"What all shareware should strive for."
Version: Harmony Assistant 9.1.1

These two French brothers have keep an every improving product on the market for years, are quick to respond to problems and feature requests, and are always seeking to improve things 'under the hood.' I originally purchased a copy to help my son with his HS music classes. I've even been able to write some songs - and I can't play an instrument or read music.

"A composer and arrangers dream"
Version: Harmony Assistant 8.4.4
Summary

Harmony Assistant is easy to use. Once you set up the tools you need most, you can move them around for easy use. The interface is simple and allows the custom setup. I started using Harmony Assistant a year ago. The interface is intuitive and only a bare minimum of the great manual is needed. Harmony Assistant allowed me to write and arrange 22 bebop tunes and burn to 3 CDs in 11 months without touching any instrument. This looks like a good teaching tool too. The only software close to Harmony Assistant costs $$$. This utility for music production should have been a part of Garage Band instead of the crippled virtual keyboard in GB. Harmony Assistant exports AIFF files that are easy to drag and drop into GB. The printouts of the scores are great. Some of the instrument sounds of Gold database such as the sax can be improved by adding a slight reverb with the sound effects of Harmony Assistant. The authors are very responsive and helpful for tech support. Eric -

"Worst Interface Ever?"
Version: Harmony Assistant 8.3.3

This must be a candidate for worst GUI ever... The features are quite amazing but it is such a drag to work with that most people will never find out. Such a shame...
