The hardest thing about Hard Hat III is getting used to the controls. Faithful to a fault to its SNES console predecessor, this port of the game lets you configure your gamepad, if you have one--which of course you don't. But you can't configure the keyboard, and the default key assignments are just strange. Your task is to move a hard-hatted robot through 2D levels, jumping over obstacles and shooting at monsters. But we never could adjust to the idea of jumping with the A key and selecting items with the space bar. Compounding the problem, your character's reactions are sometimes painfully slow, especially when you're trying to crouch down beneath your protective helmet. Your long life bar compensates somewhat for the unfriendliness of controls: if you get hit many times (and you surely will), you still have a chance. The graphics are nowhere near state of the art, but they're acceptable for a retro freeware game. The same goes for the music. All in all, die-hard platformer fans will enjoy Hard Hat III, but it won't win over skeptics.Publisher's description
From Damaged Games :It has been about a year after Hard Hat destroyed Doctor X and life was going great. Doctor Wily was happily ruling the world and Hard Hat was his #1 go to robot. Then one day, Hard Hat decides to take a look at what Doctor Wily was doing because he had been awfully quiet for months. What Hard Hat saw he did not appreciate? He saw Doctor Wily creating eight new robot masters. Displeased, Hard Hat decides he is not going to be replaced again, so he sets off to destroy Doctor Willy's newest creations. Play as a Met from the Mega Man series. Battle your way through many megaman style pits, traps and battle megaman enemies.
Version 4.2 may include unspecified updates, enhancements or bug fixes.

Version: Hard Hat III 4.2
Pros: For a game made with Game Maker, this thing's got heart! The 16-bit reincartnation of the Megaman 7 game for the Super Nintendo is unbelivable! The music is great, and there is even a feature that makes you be able to put in your own music! AMAZING! Its a got-to-buy.
Cons: The only flaws I saw where, that the controls are rudly poor. I mean, jumping with "A", and shooting with "S". I often press start instead of S, and it completely ruins the atmosphere I was in. The game ans its bosses gets tedious at some points of the game. And also, there are some graphical glitches in the gameplay or during such matters.
Overall, it gets a 9.5 out of 10, for the effort, and the reincarnation of the megaman 7 Game for the Super Nintendo (SNES).
I dont know how people could LIVE, without megaman..
