Version: HandBrake 0.9.1
"Great but be careful with Vista"
Pros: It is designed for Vista, but lots of things do not work for me in Vista unless I change settings somewhere. I set my "presets" to "Normal". It works great on a MacBook. I keep my PC around for my wife.
Cons: If you are using Windows Vista, you have to go to the Compatibility tab under properties, set the compatibility to run in Windows XP SP 2, and also select Run as Administrator (at the bottom of the Compatibility tab.)
Summary: Handbrake is a fantastic program especially after you experiment for a while. The problem, if you use Windows Vista, which is a sorry program, settings have to be changed. I have used it on over 20 movies and put my DVD originals in a safe place. It is great to take my movies on the road. Each file takes about 2 to 3 GB.
