"Works perfect"
Version: HandBrake 0.9.5
Pros
It's free - that's cool
Cons
A little slow
Summary
Best tool for creating mp4 files, can handle every source file I throw at it. Files that SUPER and Videora fumbled with audio delays, converted perfectly with Handbrake. And the only freeware tool that seems to be able to handle m2ts files.

"Dozens of DVDs ripped to play on iPad"

Works as advertised (iMac)
Ripped dozens of DVDs, only 1 wouldn't rip
Free, free, freeCons
Slow -- Did I mention that it worked great and was free!
Summary
A free app that does what it says it will do. Big thank you to the developer!

"Pain Free Video Library Conversion"
Version: HandBrake 0.9.5
Pros
It's Free
Can execute it by commandline - better for batch processing
Can convert to web ready formats
Supports large files
High quality video outputCons
A little bit slow compared to FreeMake.
Summary
This is very useful if you need to convert a lot of videos over into web ready MP4. I wrote a batch file to convert a whole directory. The program encodes a little slower than FreeMake Video Converter. But you can control the file size, quality, and have batch processing in Handbrake. ****

"Best free copying software downloaded on download.com"
Version: HandBrake 0.9.5
Pros
The software can copy almost all standard dvd's into a wide variety of formats. I have only run into a couple of dvd's I could not copy because the program would copy the chapters out of sequence.
Cons
Can only copy one disk at a time. I tried downloading it for my super powerful windows PC I build 1 year ago which has multiple optical drives. The program worked one and then never again. Works everytime without fail on my mac.
Summary
I takes a little time to copy video files more than 30 minutes in length but it will get the job done. And the finished product is always faithful to the source material in quality. And it's ability to copy the file into a large variety of video formats is also a plus for people who need that feature. Since my movie collection is so large and I wanted digital backups of all my disks it took me the better part of 6 months to finish my backup project and the majority of a 2TB hard drive. This was a good thing since some of my older dvd's had begun to deteriorate.

"Does a decent job of encoding .M4V files"
Version: HandBrake 0.9.5
Pros
-H264 format encoding is excellent and very flexible
-decent speed on a intel iMac
-able to fine tune resolution on ripped filesCons
-Some settings can cause Handbrake to crash
-Some settings can be VERY processor tasking (re: heat issues on iMacs. Would recommend a fan controller application to speed up cooling fans)
-Some files still take 5 to 7 hours to rip (99.99999% quality)Summary
If you want a good application to make files for your iPod, iPhone, AppleTV, then Handbrake will work just fine. It's certainly capable of near-HD rips depending on your settings, but be advised that higher quality rips will take alot longer and is processor taxing.

"Eventually ripped, but couldn't play file."
Version: HandBrake 0.9.5
Pros
Managed to rip a film that no over product I had could.
Cons
Didn't play once it had been ripped.
Infinite number of setting to choose from to try and get it to work.Summary
Unless you know exactly what you want, try another product.

"Download link is to 64bit version."
Version: HandBrake 0.9.5
Pros
Handbrake has both 32 and 64 bit versions. See developer's website for both download links as well as links to other platforms.
Cons
Handbrake is great; I just wish CNET provided a way to point out an error in its site (like pointing its download link to the version that not everyone can use) without resorting to bogus reviews like this one.
