Cons
This software installs hidden adware and possibly malware. My antivirus block several items during installation. This is a security risk, avoid using!
Summary
I recommend Freemake Video Converter instead.

I thought this would be good for converting VTS to, say, AVI, but unfortunately, the Hamster program seems to have no knowledge whatsoever of VTS. Seems strange to me and severely limits the usefulness of the program - at least as far as I'm concerned.

"Didn't work for me"

The user interface looks nice, and some thought has clearly gone into it.
Cons
I only tried to perform one sort of conversion (AVI to MP4), and this software didn't do it.
Summary
I wanted to convert some AVI files to MP4 format. The software managed this with some source files but not with others. When it failed, it came back very quickly with the message that it had succeeded. So aside from not working for this type of conversion, there are some flaws in its error handling. The conversions it did manage successfully didn't seem to take appreciably longer than other video conversion I've tried.

It converts from and to many different formats and it is free.
Cons
I may have missed something but converting a 50mb avi to a mp4 using the highest bit rate settings and quality settings gives me a 100kb file (obviously the quality was not good). Looked for other settings and tried different formats but I can't get a decent video out of it.

Summary
I would recommend this product as it is a very good one, and was just what I needed. But then I am a bit impatient and that should not keep others from downloading it. Speed isn't everything.
