    "Rubbish..."

    December 15, 2003  |   By SA Hunter

    Version: Halo 1.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Utter rubbish. This game has none of the imaginative qualities of the Marathon series. It feels hopelessly dated as a 1st person shoot 'em up (Medal of Honor, Wolfenstein are absolutely streets ahead. This game may have felt and played okay 3 years ago...Now, it is dumbed-down to such a level that only brainless idiots could possibly "enjoy" it. Bungie used to make games that were distinctly different. The Marathon epics being very challenging and exciting. Halo is none of those things. It is....indescribedly bad...No, worse...much worse...

As for the system requirements: I have a dual G4 2 X 1.42 with 128 Mb Radeon card. And 1,5 Gig of RAM...and the game is sluggish at anything above 832X624 I'm also using an Apple Studio Display CRT and I pity those of you with LCD displays as this game must tear terribly.

So. A rush (ha, ha... The Mac version was well on its way to being out of the door before Bungie jumped ship/platform a couple of years ago) job to get it to us in time for Christmas? My, what a cynical thought. Or merely a bumpy ride over an unimaginative barren landscape? What, No positive choice? Nope.

Microsoft simply sucks... nothing they do or touch has any credibility.
Bungie? Well they took the jump, and the elastic broke.
Halo? Well my copy went in the bin after a few hours of tedium. My HD is now pure again. Divest of any Microsoft rubbish.
