"The very best in it's class."

There are quite a few programs out there that claim to do what this program does - the only difference between them and this, is that this one actually *works*. Don't waste your time on the competition, it's not worth it. It packs a local copy of an entire website into one highly compressed executable that loads super fast regardless of file size, gives you an abundance of selectable skins to suit just about any publication, has built-in support for PDF, selectable HTML engine (custom or IE) and your javascript works along with everything else.
Using it is a pleasure for both beginners and experts alike, and it has an excellent built-in help system should you get stuck.
For experts, it has it's own script language, vastly expanding the possibilities of automating or customizing your publication via an impressive list of commands.

Uses online activation as DRM which is never good news.
Options are available for those, like me, who have issues with it. Contacting author will help.

The very best in the niche category of packing billions of little or large files containing webdata into one single manageable file that will present the content flawlessly when run. If that is what you are looking for, then look no further.

"Well conceived, good interface, executes cleanly...."

Just getting involved in the e-books thing. This is a good entry point from the standpoint that it allows the user to convert an existing website into one of several e-book formats while retaining all of the characteristics and behavior of the original site, only "off-line." The user interface is well organized and the prompting is detailed enough to allow a novice to start creating almost immediately. One of the things I like about this program, is the ability to use Java, Javascript, etc. Tried another program (EBooksWriter Lite) which doesn't support any of those facilities but tries to substitute other ones in their place. That's all fine if you want to learn another whole gamut of things, but HTML Executable lets you retain what you have and build on that.

The only problem I've had with this program so far is that, having created an executable e-book from a website and saving it according to the protocol in the program, I now can't find it on the disc. I'm sure I'll figure out how to avoid this pitfall, but it's a bit frustrating (using the "File" tab doesn't help, because there's no retention of recently accessed files in the drop-down menu). Also, like so many pieces of independent software, this one has some misspellings, grammatical problems, etc. (Doesn't anybody know how to proofread anymore?)
