    "Steer Clear of this Sham-ware"

    November 19, 2010  |   By amatot

    Version: HDD Recovery Pro 1.99

    Pros

Looks like a currently developed program - as in - GUI pretty.

    Cons

Doesn't work as advertised. No Support.
    No refunds.
No stated warranty which translates again to No Support

    Summary

We tested this software on various drives in need of recovery, with the most intriguing being a drive where we simply created a partition on a drive's free space, wrote files of various sizes, deleted the files and removed the partition definition from the Windows Vista administrative Disk Management Console. HDD Recovery Pro was unable to recover the files. This wasn't a physical reformat scenario or a virus attack, a lost boot sector or worse yet - some type of mechanical head-disk crash, no this was the simplest of recovery scenarios and this software fell flat on it's face.

Restorer Ultimate (at nearly 1/3 the price of this vaporware) recovered nearly 90% of lost files on a real recovery drive we were working on. HDD Recovery Pro
produced a cluttered recovery tree of still corrupted files.

If you reseach this software on the Un-Delete wesbiste you will find a load of self proclaimed "hard drive recovery expert" mumbo jumbo. Don't fall for it, this software has been in a static state since 2009. There are numerous other programs available for download that work well for a fraction of the cost of this junk - and they provide support. Do your research before throwing down the serious coin for this travesty.

The biggest reveal about this software publisher is that they don't even post their EULA on their website, a document they will try to hide behind when you request support and/or a refund.

Move along folks, nothing of value here...

    Complete list of Cons:

Doesn't work as advertised. No support.
Recovery algorithm is massively flawed and reassembles junk files that cannot be opened by originating application programs. The demo gives the impression that it will have a high success rate but you won't fully ascertain the level of failure this programs exhibits until you activate (purchase) the software.
No stated warranty = No support. You'll need to dispute reimbursement with your credit card company which is not an issue because these clowns are widely known as frauds.

    Updated on Nov 29, 2010

Full refund provided. Seems this publisher has a whole host of complaints.
Again, steer clear of this sham-ware. You should have no problem finding a suitable utility if you just read reviews and check for stated support after the sale.

"Trial seemed to work, Standard freezes. No support"

    September 18, 2010  |   By Amazing_Tukker

    Version: HDD Recovery Pro 1.99

    Pros

    Easy install
    Easy operation
Trial version found all the files and folders

    Cons

Standard version freezes. No files or folders recovered.
Sent 3 Emails with questions, received answers on Q2 and Q3 after 4 (!) days. After 3 weeks, still no answer on Q1. Support, if you get it, VERY slow and terse.
    No files, and $140 poorer...

    Summary

Ran HDD Recovery Pro (trial) on a defective 80GB IDE drive that Windows wouldn't mount. It showed all my files and folders.
Emailed a question to Support, waited almost 3 weeks, no answer.
Thought "Why not", paid the $140 and ran the Standard version. It froze.
Contacted Support again, waited 3 days: no answer
Sent another Email to Support. Got an answer the next day, on both questions: connect the drive directly to the motherboard, not with an external USB case.
Tried that. The wizard ran for 12 hours, stated that it was done.
I clicked Finish and the Wizard froze.
I'm waiting for Customer Support for more help, but have little confidence.

The first law of data recovery is BE QUICK.
4 weeks after the crash, I'm out of $140 and have no files and folders.

    Updated on Oct 12, 2010

Escalated the problem with the payment processor, Plinius. Asked for a refund.
Support suddenly is responsive. Answers are useless: no solutions:
    - Suggests to try the old version (1.99) in stead of the latest version (3.6).
    - Asks for screenshots of the frozen HDD Recovery Pro.
7 weeks after my HDD crashed, 5 weeks after my 1st question to Support, I'm increasingly frustrated with the quality of Support, still have no information, and still am $140.
HDD Recovery Pro is not the magic solution it pretends to be.

"Found More Files than cheaper software"

    January 8, 2010  |   By jennigrace

    Version: HDD Recovery Pro 1.99

    Pros

    Easy to Download
    Easy to Start Scan
    Easy to save recovered files
See a preview of the files before you recover the files
You can recover individual or whole groups of file types

    Cons

Initially don't see where my video files are
Not sure how to scan for one specific file type
Customer Support has not replied to me yet

    Summary

I did not format my drive, delete files or anything to lose data.
My data just didn't show up in the files anymore.
HDD Recovery Pro found over 100,000 files that other softwares found only 10,000 or none.

"Does not perform as advertised, TERRIBLE support."

    October 13, 2008  |   By Silworx

    Version: HDD Recovery Pro 1.99

    Pros

No pros. I have had not one good experience come from using this product.

    Cons

Download the free trial and it will find your files, it shows you the list, and gives you the option to recover them, but then you have to pay for a license before it will do so. Once you pay, It DOES NOT recover any files!!!. Nonexistent support.

    Summary

Bottom-line. Do not use this product. Especially do not pay for it. Even the billing company will not respond to your emails.
