"It is just not what I expected."
Version: HDD Observer 3.4.2
Pros
Easy to install and setup. Has not caused any known conflicts with other parts of this system.
Cons
It gives me the impression that I should replace all my hard disks. This is a new computer, less than a month old, and I have difficulty believing that the three, two internal S-ATAs and one external S-ATA.were used or that I have abused them at all.
Summary
I have not taken the time to look at other softwares in the same category but I do plan on removing HDD Observer 3.4.2 as soon as I can.

"Looks promising, but too buggy to use"
Version: HDD Observer 2.5
Pros
This looks like it could be really usefull software.
Cons
It claimed my trail had expired the first time I opened it and generated errors in the short time it was open.

"Grrr..said my trial period had expired 1st time I ran it..."
Version: HDD Observer 2.3
Pros
Looks like a good program, but see cons...

Upon installation, it told me my trial period had expired, and would not allow me to run it, grrrrr....

"I just like it"
Version: HDD Observer 2.2
Pros
Has many HDD related tools in one program, which is a very good idea
-
"Good utility - but nagware"
Version: HDD Observer 1.8
Pros
Cool display/graphics - neat looking utility
Cons
Nagware - only gives 29 days to check out. Also annoying 'please register' display from tray icon when installed - hard to dismiss. Also installs extra baggage (2005 Microsoft C++ redistributable files.) If you like bells & whistles this is fun/pretty to look at. Otherwise can get same info from freeware utilities.

"briliant"
Version: HDD Observer 1.8
Pros
its really cool stuff
-
"Really great software; easy to use."
Version: HDD Observer 1.5.1
Pros
- Lots of information shown at the home screen. (Shows Performance, Health, Temperature, and General Status on one selected hard drive at a time)
- Easy to use
- Great Interface
- Has a Disk Defrag and Disk Cleaner
- Also has a Regestry Defrag and Regestry Cleaner
- Hard drive activity is shown by a dock icon (VERY bottom left of screen where time is) shown by a small purple disk; the faster it spins the more HDD activity is going on
Cons
- Only detects a maximum of two hard drives at a time
- Defrag activity is shown by a grid with different colored boxes representing different things however there is no key so you don't know what certain colors represent
- Reviews sounded like it had it's own version of a disk checking utility but it dosen't
- If HDD Observer says your hard drive has "Bad Health" ; there isn't really anything you can do about it (once again, has no disk checking utility)
