""Hold Hostage" software"
Version: HDClone Free Edition 3.9.4
Pros
None that I found.
Cons
The "free" version is so basic you have to pay to get anything useful. When you upgrade you discover this software is particularly egregious as it keeps it's hand out for money through multiple steps in the "upgrade to use this feature" cycle.
Summary
I wouldn't advise anyone upgrade this software. If it doesn't do what you want in the free version, it isn't worth throwing any $ at an upgrade. If you do upgrade, you will discover the features you want still aren't available unless you upgrade again. I wasted a bunch of time and ~$23 to discover this ugly little fact. This "loss leader" software is truly parasitic and the lack of integrated help is just the icing on a very icky cake.

"Took me 55 minutes, and I'm already online."
Version: HDClone Free Edition 3.9.4
Pros
Was very simple. Ordered a new 500 gig SATA 3.0 disk to replace a 60 gig SATA 1.5 disk. Ran physical to physical. 55 minutes later, I'm online while defragging my HDD. I can't call a flaw from my experience... for free.
Cons
Nothing. This was was excellent.
Summary
I don't see why you wouldn't use this as an average user for disk cloning.

"The product failed to work on three computers."
Version: HDClone Free Edition 3.9.4
Pros
Could not make it work.
Cons
Tried to make it work using three computers, both from a bootable CD and under Windows XP & Vista. Would not recognize the USB ports or the drives.
Summary
Really sucked into this product based on the promises. I tried to make it work using three computers, both from a bootable CD and under Windows XP & Vista. Would not recognize the USB ports or the drives. Under Windows, the software would recognize the drives. However, the software kept hanging when it hit the bad sectors on the source drive. If the free edition did not work, I do not believe the pay version would work.
