  "AVOID THIS SOFTWARE"

  Pros

  Works for the simplest of returns.
  Cheap

  Cons

  Won't tell you if you are missing deductions
  Won't tell you if you are qualified for certain credits
  Won't keep you from committing tax suicide (with help from the IRS)

  Summary

  This is software which is like a power-tool. In the hands of someone who has a good knowledge of the tax law, it works in most simple situations.
  Who knows the tax law? There have been 9 tax laws passed since 2009. The complexity is such that I want a real, trained human CPA to help me. Trying to "go it alone" this year, with all the changes and twists and turns in the law is just not a rational thing to do.

  "Deduction Pro in New H&R At Home 2010 SUCKS"

  Pros

  At this point None as all of the Pros go by the way side with the horid misapplication of Deduction Pro....

  Cons

  Deduction Pro 2010 is now an online tool instead of the stand-alone tool it has been in previous versions off H&R Block At-Home (Tax Cut). Itt is slow and clunky. Whoever's idea it was to put Deduction Pro in the Cloud, should be fired.

  Summary

  Do Not buy H&R At-Home. This coming from a many year devoted user of this software. The Deduction Pro debacle kills this program. It is time to change to the competition!

  "Charitable contribution values way off"

  Version: H&R Block At Home 11 Deluxe

  Pros

  Core software works well and imports most data from previous years.

  Cons

  Deduction Pro (which works with H&R Block) has many values that are way off (e.g. A hoe is $345 and a potholder is $19). This could cause a big problem if audited. Customer support is no help.

  Summary

  I wont be using this software again.
