"How many ways can you say slow."
Version: Guiffy eXpert 9.6 build 319
Pros
None that I can see.
Cons
Like so many Java based application it is slow and primitive. It takes forever (by that, I mean I ran out of patience) to open a folder with any significant number of entries. Even with a folder containing just a few entries it took tens of seconds to open. The interface is text based which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if it had other qualities to recommend it. I'm guessing that GUI to the Java community means something different than it does in my world.

"Does the job!"
Version: Guiffy eXpert 9.0 build 268
Pros
Easy to use
Cons
I found no "cons" to this software
Summary
I had two different folders with same and different files that I wanted to merge. This program allowed me to to just that.

"This is certainly a power tool and may not meet the needs of some readers"
Version: Guiffy eXpert 8 build 214
Pros
But if you need a file compare, folder compare and/or a powerful, reliable auto-merge, this tool is by far and away the best I have ever used. Since it i Java it runs on Linux and MacOSX, since we are migrating some of our operation to Apple this is great for me me, only need one diff/merge product. The command line interface seems to be a very complete implementation - so integrating with our SCM products looks like a "piece of cake".
Cons
I haven't found anything worth mentioning

"perhaps its not fair for me to rate this"
Version: Guiffy eXpert 8 build 214
Pros
but Im trying for the first time to develop software - a newbie if you will. I may not have a full grasp on it, but If I learn better how to use it, I'll come back for a better review. I just needed something easyer to follow.

"Fast, but confusing and not free"
Version: Guiffy eXpert 7.4
Pros
Loaded and diffed files faster than other tools tested.
Cons
In the trial version many of the lines in the files are collapsed down.
In many of my diffs there were three dots (. . .) for lines 30 to 300 in a diff.
Does this mean they are the same?
There are indicators of differences in the right of the screen, but clicking does nothing, so you cannot determine where in the file the diffs are.
Lastly, the program cannot handle line diffs. If something is the same line-by-line, but a few lines are in a different order in one file, the tool marks the files as being different.
WinDiff and others can sense this and tell you that the lines are off but that the file is otherwise the same.
Cannot seem to determine 'difference in whitespace only'.

"Best diff / merge tool I have seen."
Version: Guiffy eXpert 7.3
Pros
Performance is great while comparing large files. GUI is very intuitive and has a user centric design. Several convenience features save a lot of time when you have lot of merging to do. Guiffy is very robust and reliable. Integration with other software is awesome and APIs are very handy to fit a particular need.
I saw one review saying it does not support diffing word files. However, word has several text formats such as XML and TXT that can be used for content diffing. XML format will give you a clue on style or format changes on top of textual content changes. Another widely used editor, Adobe framemaker also has this save to XML or save to TXT feature.
Guiffy is an all around winner and really should get more than five stars.
