    "Misleading Name"

    September 12, 2010  |   By IAmMarchHare

    Version: Greeting Card Studio 1.95

    Pros

None that I could see, as I couldn't use it.

    Cons

I just want a greeting card creator, not a photo editing thing. Is that really too much to ask?

    Summary

Not what I was looking for, and I wasted my time downloading it.

    "Alright I guess"

    August 9, 2009  |   By ShadowsOfTears

    Version: Greeting Card Studio 1.75

    Pros

    The layout was decent

    Cons

This didn't really work all that well. It was very cartoony, and really wasn't on the level of what I was looking for.

    Summary

I wouldn't download this again, in fact after attempting to use it a few times, I completely uninstalled this program. I think it could use some improvement.

    "Basic and inflexible"

    February 20, 2009  |   By reviewnerd

    Version: Greeting Card Studio 1.61

    Pros

A few decent (but not incredible by any means) looking templates (around 15 total)

    Cons

    Has problems with layers
    Very few templates overall
No option to download more free templates
Very inflexible in terms of image editing
Text input is random & some templates don't offer much room 4 it
Reminds me of limitations of "paint" in Windows

    Summary

I used this for 20 minutes and then uninstalled it. If you are a very basic user wanting to throw a picture in a frame and print it, this may do the trick for you. But overall, it's a very basic software, particularly in the free edition.

My main problem with it was the difficulty that the program has in managing layers. Let's say you want a picture, a frame, and text in your greeting card (the basics). The program offers you the option of selecting a frame from templates, which I assume most users gravitate towards. This is great. You also have the option of starting from scratch and designing your greeting card using backgrounds and such. I didn't use this option, maybe the software is stronger in this department, though I doubt it.
Ok, let's continue: you select a frame and then the software lets you add a picture and nicely embeds it within the frame. Now, you can work to further customize it. Let's say you add text. This process is quite like "paint" in Windows. It just gives you a text box with the option of a transparent background (which "paint" does not offer) and lets you put the text box wherever you like.
Now, the problem with layers kicks in:
Lets say you want to flip the frame vertically so that the flower that is part of the frame and is protruding the picture does not cover an important part of your image. After you do this, since the frame is the largest feature in the image and it covers over the rest of the frame, you can no longer click on the picture or the text to move them or resize them! I tried "send back" option to send the frame to the back. Still, when I click on the text, it continues to hold on to the frame as the active layer. I tried this many times with different tricks and did not work. I consider myself savvy when it comes to computers and working with such software. Overall, I am disappointed and wanted to save you the time and energy I put into trying it. If you are in a rush to put a picture to a frame and click print, this software gives you about 20 different ways of doing so. Other than that, please look elsewhere for more productivity.
Good luck and thank you for your time.
