    "Best Of The IE Clones"

    May 1, 2012  |   By ElObomo

    Version: GreenBrowser 6.2.0427

    Pros

You'd never know it's a Trident engine base browser - it's speed in in the Chromium/Geiko engine range.

    Cons

    Old school interface.

    Summary

Basic, trouble free, dependable browser that really shows it's stuff when used in an older, limited resourses computer. It's what IE8 should have been.

    "Great GreenBrowser!"

    June 10, 2011  |

    Version: GreenBrowser 5.9.0609

    Pros

This is a tab enabled Multiple Document Interface web browser that allows you to manage your web experience through the use of toolbars.

    Cons

Well, they used the Trident (Internet Explorer) rendering engine. Like every other non-successful browser. Similar to other browsers in it's league.

    Summary

I like this webbrowser because the wrapper around the engine is more in the direction I wish Internet Explorer had gone. Internet Explorer 9 disgust me because by and large it's a combination of Microsoft's ideals (which is cool, Microsoft owns it) and many other ideals they did not invent themselves (which is uncool, stop stealing intellectual property, oh wait, after 20+ years it'll probably be too hard....).

The cool thing about this is we get to see a direction that the Trident wrapper maybe should have went.

The bad thing about this is there's a lot of conceptual web browser experiences out there relying on the Trident engine, and this one is a lot like those with only a few ideals I hadn't seen before.

One cool feature is this green G they put on the screen. This floating G let's you bring the browser to the foreground instantly, without being forgotten on your taskbar. It looks like it's about 32x32 pixels and is always ontop. This magic G also accepts double clicks, allowing you to minimize and maximize the browser at will.

The default webpage it opens to (http://www.5igb.com/StartEn.htm) is a monster that isn't intuitive to today's users needs. Fortunately you can change it under tools>GreenBrowser Options. Start/Close -> Custom Homepage. Today's user is much more interested in dynamic up to date eye catching content rather than static references to other sources that don't change day to day. Note: It's important to bookmark this monster page because they have a list of Last Visited Pages stored there.

The External Toolbar is one you'll want to enable. Every now and then you hit a page with nuisance sounds, well just click the Quick Mute Speaker button and that problem is fixed. Problems reading a page because of some strange font or font size? No problem. 'Set Page Verdana Font' takes care of it. On page popup won't disappear until you dance the hokey pokey with your mouse? No problem. 'Edit Page' and delete the troubling element.

On the whole this is a presentation of ideals of where web browsing should be. I appreciate that and this is a good example of an attempt to create a much richer web experience, which fell slightly short in that arena providing only a slightly richer quirky web experience. I like quirky so I'm keeping this browser for certain occasions.

GreenBrowser is really good, but I will not be setting it to default.

"Not as good as some other Trident engine browsers-"

    September 22, 2010  |   By andreaborman

    Version: GreenBrowser 5.6.0920

    Pros

It is faster than Internet Explorer. It IS compatible with Windows 7 if you want this browser.

    Cons

Ugly in appearance and does not do all I want it to or what I would expect from a web browser.

    Summary

At first when I was looking for a browser that would view and handle sites in IE Internet Explorer mode,Green browser seem a good idea. In the earlier versions there were few problems apart from the fact that you could not change the color theme of the browser. Now they have added speed dial which I hate but is so beloved by Opera browser and it's users. But I find it actually slows things down and is not needed as a good browser will work fine without it. Green browser is made from the Trident engine which is used to make Internet Explorer and is IE based. because IE is so slow and not very customizable I and a lot of people. Use Flock-Mozilla based and Chromium a chrome browser. But I also like to have and IE based browser to view sites on the web that work best in IE mode. And there are many IE trident engine based browser that are good and better than IE but Green browser sadly is not one of them. The early versions were good but the new versions are not. I could not download what I needed to from the Internet. my adobe Flash player needed upgrading and I could not do this with Green browser,I had to open Aol Exploer another IE based browser instead,to download the flash player. And it did not open the next webpage, you just get a tab at the top,and you have to click on the tab to open it and get to the next page. I had to to this every time I searched or typed in a web page, which is a hassle. The green G icon was very annoying and I could not get rid of it. Forget Green browser-if you are looking for an alternative to using IE to view sites in IE mode, get Deepnet Explorer or Aol Explorer instead. They and others work much better than Green browser.

"Worth getting and takes up little space-"

    September 11, 2010  |   By andreaborman

    Version: GreenBrowser 5.5.0818

    Pros

Green Browser has advanced security features to keep you safe on the web. It is also fast and browses the web quickly. Based on the Internet Explorer engine BUT NOTHING LIKE Internet Explorer.

    Cons

Not many. I dont like the gren G icon that floats in the middle of the web page. No way to disable this.

    Summary

Green browser is based in Internet Explorer engine but is nothing like Internet Explorer. It has it's own plug ins you can download and can block unwanted pop ups. But you can disable this if you wish to. It also takes up little space on the hard drive and of course it is faster than Internet Explorer and is a good alternative to Internet Explorer. The only things I did not like was the green G icon that floats in the middle of the web page that there is not a setting to disable. I could download things okay with this browser. The only problem I had was that I could not upgrade my flash video player with Green browser because it prevented this. So I had to download the flash player with Aol Explorer another IE engine based browser. So if you are using Green browser you may need to have another simular browser, such as Avant browser or Deepnet Explorer to do this task. But all other downloads were okay except for this one issue. Also I had to click on the next tab to get to the webpage,I would like to see this changed so I just land on the next page as I do with other browsers. Green browser is meant to provide secure browsing and I would say it does but perhaps too secure? Although you can disable pop up blocking and other security features. You cannot change the color theme of this browser and it has been said by some to run off of your existing Internet Explorer browser. But I do not think this is true as I have Internet Explorer 8 but it is disabled on my computer. You cannot uninstall Internet explorer on any Windows computer including Windows 7 or Windows will stop working. But you can hide or disable it so it is not active in start up menue. Which is what I have done. Green browser and other browsers that use IE engine do not run off of your IE browser but they can copy the homepage you have on IE and sometimes Firefox does this. As settings are imported but Green browser can work on MAC computers which do not have Internet Explorer at all as they run off of Safari. Which sugests the Internet Explorer based browsers can run independantly. It has to be said there are many browsers and they all work better than Internet Explorer and this is true with most of them. Green browser is not perfect but this is a fast browser it plays videos well and causes no problems that I know of. Although Green browser is made for Windows XP and Vista it IS compatible with Windows 7 computers. Most browsers that work on Windows Vista will work on Windows 7 as Vista and windows 7 are simular. I have Windows 7 and Green browser works on my laptop and is also compatable with Google Talk video chat and is updated regular. So this browser is worth using if you are doing tasks that reguire Internet Explorer but do not want to use Internet Explorer.

"A good alternative to your other browsers-"

    July 21, 2010  |   By andreaborman

    Version: GreenBrowser 5.5.0707

    Pros

Similar to Deepnet Explorer this browser works well without any problems.

    Cons

    None that I know of.

    Summary

Green browser is a simple, but by no means useless browser, far from it. Not as high tech as Chromium or posh as Flock but,it is like Deepnet Explorer looks like Internet Explorer. But is nothing like IE because it is fast and works unlike Internet Explorer, which does not and so most people hate IE and want to get away from it,me included! Green browser will do all the tasks IE does on sites meant to work with IE but you don't have to use Internet Explorer with Green browser. This browser is fast and I think you can now change themes as well and get add ons. It is very reliable and works well and is good to have as your alternative browser. Also it takes up very little space on your hard drive,so go for it. It will live happily alongside your Flock and Google Chrome browsers.

    Updated on Aug 31, 2010

I am now using Green browser along with my recently added Deepnet Explorer,to which Green browser is very similar to. the difference is Green browser are still making new versions, the most recent one is August 2010 but Deepnet Explorer never had any follow ups to their 2006 version but that browser is still accepted on all sites now.Although both Green browser and Deepnet Explorer do not state if they are compatible with Windows 7,which is what I have. I find this is not a problem as Green browser works perfectly with Windows 7 as does Deepnet Explorer also, both these browsers work fine.In my experience most browser that work with Windows vista will work with windows 7. So green browser and Deepnet Explorer are no exception and they do work fine on my computer.Green browser also works with Google video chat which is Good and also as it is a basic but fast browser it never crashes. The only thing I do not like is the G icon that appears on the page corner, that you can not delete.

"Green Browser is really an excellent browser"

    February 6, 2010  |   By marathong

    Version: GreenBrowser 5.3.0203

    Pros

If Green Browser were an extension of some big operating system or giant search engine it would be in the top five

    Cons

We as people tend to stick to the familiar and end up stuck in a rut. I find Green Browser to be extremely fast. The tab lights up instantly and the page is there

    Summary

In any event if we do not start giving the lesser known products - search engines - web browsers we will be stuck with roughly three choices if that. Try a new browser today and offer feedback to the developers. They will appreciate it

    "Light and quick."

    July 3, 2009  |   By thunderloader

    Version: GreenBrowser 5.1.0523

    Pros

Easy user interface, light on resources, some modifications possible. Integrates with IE applications.

    Cons

Not a lot of features to choose from, not a very secure browser.

    Summary

Every browser has some unique features that set it apart from the rest. This one is okay, but it would be more impressive if they incorporated their own theme instead of making another light-weight Internet Explorer. Still, I like this browser just for the fact that it is a nice, small, light browser. It does have one very attractive feature: simplicity! It's very easy to use. I someone is looking for a lightweight browser that's not a big resource hog, and they don't plan to conduct sucure transactions over the web, this is a nice little browser.

    "REAL GOOD ALTERNATE BROWSER"

    May 22, 2009  |   By cybersenior01

    Version: GreenBrowser 5.0.0509

    Pros

Tabbed Viewing and the biggest pro, to me, is that it supported ROBOFORM right off. This is really important, to me.

    Cons

Doesn't have the "Home" button on the tool bar by default. You have to click on CUSTOMIZE and add it. Tabs show up with DIM lettering. Didn't even notice them when I first used browser, so thought it wasn't working when I tried to go to a web site.

    Summary

This is a real good alternate to IE and even Firefox. The latest versions of Firefox are slow to open. Greenbrowser opens fast and is with some exceptions real easy to use.
