A potentially invaluable tool for math students or engineers, this tightly focused program draws and analyzes two dimensional graphs. Within these limits, it offers most of the features any mathematically minded computer user could ask for.
Standard, parameter, and polar functions are supported. It includes a huge number of predefined functions, but new ones can be added. Tangents, normals, and derivatives can be drawn. Users can add relations and set constraints. The program can calculate the length or area of a selected function, or determine its first and second derivatives. From a cosmetic point of view, users can freely adjust axes, figure width and color, and shading.
We would like to see the addition of three-dimensional graph support, which would be useful for displaying complex functions. However, on the whole, this is an elegant and well-designed tool for computer users who need to turn abstract equations or data points into their graphical equivalents.
Publisher's description
From Ivan Johansen :This program is for drawing graphs of mathematical functions in a coordinate system. Graphs may be added with different color and line styles. Both standard functions, parameter functions and polar functions are supported. It is possible to evaluate a function at an entered point or tracing the function with the mouse. It is possible to add shadings to functions, and series of points to the coordinate system. Trendlines may be added to point series. It is possible to save the coordinate system and everything on it as an image file. It is also possible to copy an image into another program. Text labels may be placed anywhere in the coordinate system.
Version 4.0.1 now supports relations and custom functions.
What's new in this version:
- Several minor improvements have been implemented.
- When moved near a corner, the legend will now snap to the corner and stay there.
- When moved near the arrows on the axes, the label will snap to the axis and stay there.
- Added support for exporting images as Portable Document Format (PDF).
- Plotting of piecewise functions has been improved.
- Graph will now show the sum of squares in the description when creating trendlines.

Version: Graph 4.1
Pros: Great program, works fantastically, couldnt ask for much more from a free, small simple program
Cons: It can become difficult to type in the commands, as it is all done on one line.

Version: Graph 4.1
Pros: This GUI is very user freindly and intuitive. The functions and relations work properly. Brief, a very nice program for highschool students.
Cons: For European students this program will be obsolete after your second class math.

Version: Graph 4.1
Pros: It's a basic graphing program that works with complex functions and understands multiple equation formats. It's free.
Cons: This program keeps crashing on me when I try to properly fit a function to a series of points; there aren't many built-in options for doing a function fit, and the user defined options aren't clearly annotated. There is no spreadsheet-like autofill feature when inputting numbers. This is beyond the scope of this software, so this isn't a real complaint, but it lacks the same programmability of a graphing calculator, and it only seems to be able to do 2-d graphs.

Version: Graph 4.1
"Great for creating graphs of functions for use in printed documents"
Pros: It is easy to use, allows you a lot of control over how the graph looks (can change font size of labels, color/thickness of lines/axes/grid, spacing of grid - all easily), and lets you save the image as a jpg without having to do a screen capture. I tried 3 or 4 graphing programs altogether and this one is by far the best that I saw.
