It takes a few minutes of mousing around the map to understand how this program displays things, but it makes sense after that and helps you sort your HD. Also the results look like avant garde art. -
"A terrific utility!"

This is an extremely useful tool when your drives are filling up. The visual presentation of the data on your hard drive saves me hours when I need to make decisions about what needs to be archived, what needs to be deleted, and makes it quick to find that 10GB file I forgot about. Absolutely love it. Solid app. -

I have been casually looking for a volume mapping utility like this. It allowed me to look at my iTunes library in about 10 seconds and at a glance I found a pile of .aiff files that were not showing up in the library (for some reason) but were hogging a pile of drive space. I was able to have this nifty utility pop them up in the finder where I could either delete them or pop them back into iTunes to convert to MP3. I tossed a bunch of other files I would have never noticed like Garage Band loop tapes (I don't use GB). After about a beer's worth of snooping I had regained 15gb of drive space back. ME LIKEE! -

I ever try to find a tool like GrandPerspective to find large unused files or directories on my harddisk. GrandPerspective looks like KDE- or Konqueror-FSview. -

"Useless Eye Candy"

The interface is so cluttered and unintuitive and just plain frightening and pointless (since what the point if it scares you?)! If you need a tool that won't make your eyes bleed and send you wondering "what the...?!" and simply does what it says, then go for WHATSIZE! By FAR the better tool, true to the old adage: LESS is (much!) MORE. -
"Phenomenal!"

I went from 4 GB free to almost 10GB free in 15 minutes using this tool, including download and installation. Truly spectacular display of information and fast and intuitive to use! -
"Fantastic"

Does exactly what it aims to do, and does it in style. Disk Inventory X often crashed on me, but GrandPerspective has been perfectly stable and besides it's a much better-designed app. It's the perfect complement to WhatSize because GrandPerspective's approach is visual rather than numerical/hierarchical.
And extra points for the 'Clown Barf' color scheme. Too funny. -

I really missed Tom Luhrs's DiskSurveyor when it didn't make the transition to OSX. This happily takes it's place. I produce a lot of large art files and can now instantly tell which to archive. I especially like how you can change the default color mapping to Folder, or By name, etc. And it's quick.
