Version: Google Earth 5.0.11733.9347
"Google Earth 5.0 is a NIGHTMARE! BRING BACK 4.0!"
Pros: Nothing over version 4.0, except you can supposedly go under the ocean. Whoopee.
Cons: changing camera angle is a nightmare! Street photos grainy and awful. Fish eye things in place of cameras are stupid. I would give ANYTHING to get 4.0 back. Google Earth 5.0 is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!
Summary: When you changed the camera angle (from straight overhead view to angled view), in 4.0, it maintained position. You could zoom in on and out from your target at the exact angle you chose. It was great for looking at mountainous terrain. It really helped me to get to know better my native California.
In contrast, using Google Earth 5 is odious. When I zoom in from straight overhead, the camera angle changes for no reason. When I use the change camera angle feature, it randomly changes my viewing location, so that whatever I was looking at that I wanted to see from an angle is no longer in the picture. Even if I can find what I wanted to see from an angle, if I zoom out it goes to straight overhead view. It won't let me hold the angle and zoom out.
In short, it is TOTALLY USELESS for viewing at angles, thus it is TOTALLY USELESS for looking at mountainous regions like California. I hope someone in the vast Google organization recognizes that 4.0 is superior to 5.0, and releases a new version that revives 4.0's camera angle logic.
Otherwise, I'll have to find some other satellite view software. The only enjoyable thing I have done with Google Earth 5.0 is delete it from my computer!
