Version: Google Desktop 5.9.1005.12335
Pros
None that I can think of.
Cons
Maybe it's my system, but if I run it, literally nothing happens. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, still nothing.
Summary
I used to like it, but .......

"Good for what it DOES"
Version: Google Desktop 5.9.1005.12335
Pros
Simple, small, and free, Google Desktop indexes hard drive like Google's servers index Web. Search results are returned in Web-page format (Web links). The application's sidebar regularly updates status of your OTHER life details, via widgets & such.
Cons
For those that MAY need more/greater details; MIGHT want to look @ other programs/tools.
Summary
Simple, small, and free, sidebar will put MUCH needed data @ a glance

"Good when it works - but files can be missed in search"
Version: Google Desktop 5.9.1005.12335
Pros
Free, comprehensive, easy way to find files on large disks
Cons
Difficult to limit number of files found without eliminating the file you are looking for, sometimes files that contain search words are simply are not found by Desktop, there is no way to know if files that should have been found were found.
Summary
All free text search tools suffer from the problem of returning too many results unless you know exactly what unique keywords they contain. The more serious problem is that at what seems like random times files which contain search terms are not returned in the search list. I have identified many files that appear in the index for awhile and then are no longer found by Google Desktop, with no error message or other warning that the list is incomplete. I have uninstalled and reintalled/reindexed my drives several times, but that is a pain to do. Bottomline, for regular use it is fine, but in critical situations you can't depend on Desktop to return all the files you are looking for.

"Google is great though a bit slower, maybe my computer."
Version: Google Desktop 5.9.1005.12335
Pros
I don't use many logos or any 'I'm Feeling Lucky" sort of searches. I do use it to organize the internet and places I want to revisit. It does that well.
Cons
As I mentioned earlier, it take longer to load than previous version.
Summary
I use Google daily for at least 1 hour. I am a fan and would continue to use it as my browser for as long as it remains functional and easy to use!

"Simply does not index all my files like Copernic does."
Version: Google Desktop 5.9.1005.12335
Pros
It was free.
Cons
Simply does not index all my files PDFs (especially the ones I've created by scanning and OCRing). I'm back to Copernic..

"Very useful but slows my system down."
Version: Google Desktop 5.9.1005.12335
Pros
Allows me to find files very quickly. Handy tool!
Cons
Slows system dramatically.
Summary
I love being able to locate files and e-mails quickly. I have had to remove and reinstall the program several times as it slows my systems quite a bit.

"Unacceptable. Disabled Outlook 2007 clickable links"
Version: Google Desktop 5.9.1005.12335
Pros
Didn't use long enough to find any.
Cons
As soon as I installed this software, my clickable links in Outlook 7 stopped working. They started working again after I removed it. The installation also included other things that I didn't expect such as Widgets.
Summary
I was looking for software to index the files in my computer, but the fact that the software make my Outlook 2007 links unusable caused me to uninstall it immediately. I will continue to use other indexing services such as Copernic that provide similar benefits without the negative side effects. I also disliked the fact that the software installed other features such as a toolbar and widgets that I didn't expect to have installed. I dislike immensely software that installs additional components that aren't included in the software description.
