Google Chrome beta for Mac User Reviews

"Safari's speed and Firefox's customization"
Version: Google Chrome beta 5.0.307.9
Pros
Fast and flexible.
Cons
Extensions need more development.
Summary
Loads pages faster than any other browser I've used on the Mac. The addition of add-ons allows me the functionality that I have come to love about Firefox. To me Chrome is the best of Safari and Firefox. Firefox still has many more options when it comes to add-ons. I think/hope that Chrome extensions will catch up. That said, I have pretty much been able to find chrome extensions that offer the same or similar functionality to my Firefox add-ons.

"Still not ready for production"
Version: Google Chrome beta 5.0.307.7 beta
Pros
umm...small download
Cons
Bookmark Manager still doesn't work right...numerous crashes, lockups, memory leaks, etc. If you JUST browse, you'll be fine...but try anything more complicated and you'll likely hit a memory leak.
Summary
Don't bother...stick with Safari until Google can make Chrome on Mac a priority.

"Fast. It's very fast"
Version: Google Chrome beta 4.0.249.49 beta
Pros
It's fast. I like the way it does things
Cons
The Mac version has no Bookmark Manager. Why? How difficult is this? Tonight they released version 4.0.249.49 . I was delighted. I thought, finally a Bookmark Manager. Uh uh.
Summary
It's a good browser, not ready for prime time on Macs. I'm using it as my default browser, mainly because, like the browser, I'm not ready for prime time.
-
"Poor excuse for Opera"
Version: Google Chrome beta 4.0.249.43
Pros
Almost different
Cons
It was supposed to be the newest and the best. Nor will it be replacing Firefox any time soon
Summary
If at first you don't succeed, try try again
-
"The software is limited in scope."
Version: Google Chrome beta 4.0.249.43
Pros
Time will tell if this browser will outperform commonly used browsers Firefox and Explorer. For users of Mac 10.4 it is of no use.
Cons
For users of Mac 10.4 it is of no use.
Summary
non-universal.
-
"Will not work with Mac using OSX Tiger"
Version: Google Chrome beta 4.0.249.43
Pros
nothing at all
Cons
will not work with OSX Tiger
-
"Hasn't crashed yet."
Version: Google Chrome beta 4.0.249.43
Pros
Has never annoyed me. Does crash like FF. Isn't Safari, which annoys me.
Cons
It's all good.
Summary
Because it does not crash. Because it works. Because it is not Safari, which, for some reason, I despise.
-
"NOT PowerPC Compatible: no G5"
Version: Google Chrome beta 4.0.249.43
Pros
clean look
Cons
no universal binary, no PowerPC chip support
-
"Works just great and very quick"
Version: Google Chrome beta 4.0.249.30
Pros
I love the interface, I know what's going on, easy to understand tabs and downloads are very visible and easy to mange
Cons
Nothing much, had a few quirks, couldn't "sign in" to a few websites but overall gets better all he time..
Summary
I like firefox, couldn't quite get it together with Safari, trie one or two exotic others but this has been my favorite so far.
-
"Launched for me, worked perfectly."
Version: Google Chrome beta 4.0.249.30
Pros
Seems OK, still too early to say what I like.
Cons
I do have to admit, Apple integrates allot into Safari, so switching browsers is typically a downgrade.
Summary
Nice that there is another kid on the block, don't see any amazing features or a noticeable increase in speed. It's nice to have options though, especially someone living in the walled garden of Apple.
