"Great for synchronization and remote access"

    April 17, 2012  |   By edub0180

    Pros

    - Networking between Macs and Windows can be a challenge, but GoodSync Connect makes it super easy.
    - Syncing is a LOT faster than with anything else I've tried.
    - Access all your files on a remote computer, no need to plan ahead and put files in a specific shared folder.
    - Saves you a lot of time and bandwidth compared with cloud services.

    Cons

It can be tricky to find the right folder (like your desktop) on a remote computer, as it doesn't look exactly like the Windows Explorer (you have to go to your c: drive to find your user folder on a typical Windows machine).

    Summary

I use it to synchronize the music libraries on my various computers. It's super fast; when I change the metadata of an MP3 on one computer, it doesn't copy the whole file to the other machines, but only the data that has changed. When I add music on my (Mac) laptop, it automatically gets synced with my (Windows) desktop and vice versa. This has saved me an incredible amount of time that I used to spend copying files.
The GoodSync Explorer is extremely useful when working from home. I don't have to put files in a specific folder on my work computer beforehand, like with Dropbox. I can just access all the files on my work computer from home, no matter where I saved them.
It backs up my files to an external hard-drive, too.
