Editors' review

If you're a home user with low-security issues, it's worth trying this user-friendly toolbox of optimizing utilities. Nicely designed with quick performance, Glary Utilities Pro will appeal to less experienced users.

Glary Utilities Pro launches a simply but nicely designed, tabbed interface for performing system cleanup and maintenance. Its basic scan includes a Registry cleaner, shortcuts fixer, startup manager, temporary files cleaner, tracks eraser (activity history and Internet traces), and a spyware and adware remover. Determining how to use this utility is very easy, thanks to its clear-cut design and organization.

Everything performed well in our tests. We liked its one-click maintenance scan--which located problems in each of the areas noted above in about 2 minutes--and that it listed details for each area's detected problems. The utility made repairs in less than a minute. The redundant Uninstall Manager and Startup Manager, while already available as Windows features, may be appreciated by users who like that they are bundled with other cleanup items in a single toolbox. The Memory Optimizer is a simple tool that lets you automatically optimize memory when CPU usage reaches a specified percentage. We liked the simple tools included in the Privacy & Security module, and these are appropriate for home use, but power users and commercial users will prefer more robust features.

The trial period is more than adequate for users to determine Glary Utilities Pro's suitability for their needs. The price may keep some home users from biting, but high-level users will skip this toolbox for more bells and whistles. On the whole, though, the user-friendliness of this tool collection makes it appealing for personal use.

    "Almost Perfect"

    June 25, 2014   |   By BearPuppy

    Version: Glary Utilities Pro

The amount of available tools is truly staggering for the price. Best tool is the Software Update tool which will alert you when software you have on your machine gets an update (even Betas if you want) - no need for an external site or service. I also like the degree of control you can elect, from full manual control of every tool and item in the package, to complete 1-click operation, to any mixture you choose.

As mentioned in the CNET review there is a complete lack of labels, making tool selection a tedious try and learn-to-remember process, especially the advanced tools along the bottom row.

Despite the label shortcoming, it truly is a one-tool-does-all utility. In fact it is the one utility I have on my system. Is it really that good? Yes it is; I'm an end-user, and I have a lifetime license.

"Ignore 30% discount -- better "special" deal from Clary"

    May 03, 2014   |   By richrider

    Version: Glary Utilities Pro

With a DEEP discount, the Pro is likely a good deal, BUT . . . .

    At list price -- or the (here often) touted, modest 30% -- it's a questionable value, BUT . . . .

If you sign up for the free basic, it won't be long before you periodically get an online free offer for the Pro version: $11.99 for a subscription good for up to THREE computers. The list price is $40 for one computer. The touted (spam) discount flooding the user comments (under the CNET review) results in ONE computer pro license for $28.

At $12 ($4 each computer), the Pro version is a sweet deal. Even if the additional Pro benefit is questionable (see many other conflicting reviews on this), I have no problem paying these folks a modest amount for their overall product, which for most is a first rate software suite.

NOTE: Be cautious when RENEWING this deep discount offer. I suspect that the renewal will be at a MUCH higher price. Caveat emptor.

One pleasant aspect of this software is that it doesn't try to trick you into installing bloatware, malware, crapware, etc. Too many "free" programs do.
