Gladinet Cloud Desktop Starter Edition (64-bit) User Reviews

"Not worth the time, wait for HTML 5."
Version: Gladinet Cloud Desktop Starter Edition (64-bit) 2.3.392
Pros
It uploads fine.
Cons
It is painfully slow at everything regardless of how buff your system and internet is.
Summary
Great concept but the software will soon e obsolete with HTML5 coming out. All of this stuff will be able to be done through drag and drop in the browser. Save yourself the hassle and wait.

"An effective way to connect to the cloud."
Version: Gladinet Cloud Desktop Starter Edition (64-bit) 2.1.357
Pros
Once you're up and running, it's as easy as drag-and-drop to copy files across.
Cons
Not so simple to set up, and custom windows don't look so great.
Summary
Gladinet Cloud Desktop is an effective way to connect to Google Docs, SkyDrive, Picasa, etc. but took a bit of setting up. On first try Google Docs failed on me, but Google Apps, SkyDrive and Picasa gave no such problems.
Once you have gone through the motions and have all your settings right, operation becomes simple. It was great to see all my documents sitting in Explorer instead of having to login to the various sites, and the program asked me if I wanted to run scheduled backups, which is great. All in all then, an application that does what it says without too much fuss. -
"Good app, not quite ready for primetime"
Version: Gladinet Cloud Desktop Starter Edition (64-bit) 0.8.71
Pros
- can access my Skydrive as another folder
- relatively seamless integration into Windows environmentCons
- once the systray icon would not respond and after I killed it it would not restart. I had to reboot to fix it.
- I uploaded a lot of images, deleted one and replaced it - that image is now corrupt. Will have to upload that image again.
- too slowSummary
Good first step to integrating "the cloud" to computing. But it's a bit slow and has a few bugs. Although I d/l "Gladinet Cloud Desktop (64-bit) 0.8.71" it is running as a 32-bit app: GladinetClient.exe * 32 as reported by Windows task manager, so it really isn't a 64-bit app. That's misleading.
I look forward to seeing the bugs I encountered fixed (see Cons).
