"Excellent tool for local access to cloud storage"
Version: Gladinet Cloud Desktop Starter Edition (32-bit) 1.4.232
Pros
Locally mounted volumes for various (extensive collection) of cloud storage is exceptionally useful.
Cons
Important to use Gladinet to do transfers to/from mounted volumes (rather than simply drag and drop) to assure that the cache is managed properly. Inconvenient, but the product does warn you, giving the opportunity to do it right.
Summary
I think that the product is and excellent tool for making cloud storage even more valuable than it is on its own. The product is particularly useful because it is compatible and interoperable with the cloud storage in its native format, not a proprietary instance in the cloud.

"Works very good!"
Version: Gladinet Cloud Desktop Starter Edition (32-bit) 1.4.232
Pros
none... zero... none
Cons
Works perfectly and it's free. Better than SD explorer.

"Fast and easy, but limited"
Version: Gladinet Cloud Desktop Starter Edition (32-bit) 1.4.232
Pros
A very easy and relatively fast (SkyDrive upload ~140 MB/hour = 40 kB/s) way to access online storage like SkyDrive, Box.net, Google Docs and any other WebDAV or FTP server. Automatically updates the storage to match changes made on the computer.
Cons
The free version has some serious limitations, notably that it doesn't take more than 1000 files/folders into account for any given backup/sync job. It doesn't connect to SkyDrive directly but to some obscure server -- I don't know what to think.
Summary
I'm not sure yet whether I will keep Gladinet. I like the speed (not astronomical, but faster than other methods I know). In combination with Areca Backup, I can keep good encrypted backups of confidential files. But the 1000-file-per-assignment and 9-directory-levels limitations may turn out to be prohibitive for a really easy, streamlined process.
Recently, a number of new products have emerged in relation to SkyDrive. SDExplorer is a bit slower around 45 MB/hour (13 kB/s), but perhaps SkyDrive Synchronizer (a command line utility) has more potential, once it gets developed further. See http://skydrivesync.codeplex.com/
Many standard WebDAV sync/backup clients like BitKinex are unable to authenticate with SkyDrive's Passport 1.4 protocol, so they are of no use. We'll have to look out for further developments and hope that SkyDrive will publish a WebDAV API and improve upload and download speeds. -
"Works as described."
Version: Gladinet Cloud Desktop Starter Edition (32-bit) 1.4.232
Pros
Works exactly as advertised with SkyDrive accounts, Box.net, Picasa, and GoogleDocs. No problems mounting or copying to the online storage. No real issues after a week of use.
Cons
Slight lag time when first copying files, but nothing outrageous. Seems to copy folders instead of moving at times, but that may be a limitation on SkyDrive's end.
Summary
This software makes using online storage as easy as a local drive. Virtually no difference in using a local drive or NAS and SkyDrive. Have not tried the backup features, but if it works as well as the rest of the software, it should be just fine for simple backups.

"All Cloud Storage under a standard drive letter"
Version: Gladinet Cloud Desktop Starter Edition (32-bit) 1.4.232
Pros
Easy to install and configure and supports most of the more popular storage sites such as Box.net, SkyDrive and Google docs.
Cons
None that I have found yet. I am not sure I clearly understand the limitations of the starter edition and what I will lose when my 30 days is up. What is a sub-process?
Summary
This is a must have tool if you have Cloud storage and want to access it via a drive letter. After my 30 days is up, this is one I will purchase the pro editions to continue to use it without limitations.
