Version: GetDataBack Data Recovery 2.31
"Very useful for unreadable disks"
Summary: I work in an IT company and someone had left in a key stick that was unreadable. They likely forgot to perform the "Safely remove hardware" before pulling out the stick. Once the stick was plugged back in, Windows showed "This disk is not formatted, do you wish to format?"
I tried a few freeware data recovery packages to see what contents is shown. PC Inspector kept giving "Read exception" errors and showed up corrupt data when I performed a "Find lost data". It could not find any partition either. VirtualLab showed up the contents, but I did not feel confortable having this software having to "call home" each time I ran the product. Also, we did not want a pay-by-the-GB software package. File Scavanger failed as it would only work on NTFS.
I then tried GetDataBack as I remembered someone who used this software with success. Sure enough it found the partition and showed the contents. It allows files to be opened individually which I was happy to see since most other Demo software would not even let me do this. Finally, we purchased this bundled with the NTFS version and had the license sent to our E-mail within a few minutes.
