Publisher's Description
From Geomantics:
GenesisII generates photo-realistic and schematic images of landscapes from geographic data. In addition to rendering capabilities, GenesisII incorporates a wide range of tools to support landscape modeling and related tasks, such as VRML modeling and terrain editing. GenesisII describes a landscape surface using a landscape grid of heights that can either be generated by GenesisII or imported from another source such as a DEM (digital elevation model) file. GenesisII understands how landscapes are formed and will attempt to generate the details of the fractal surface in a realistic manner. It also has an understanding of ecosystems and will place vegetation with regard to surface features.
A range of factors controls how the landscape will look in the rendered image. The user can control atmosphere, clouds, and water in addition to camera and target placement. It also features an extensible plug-in architecture.

"Wonderful Landscapes"
Version: GenesisII 4.0
Summary
I've run this program on both Windows2000 and XP and on both it's absolutly rock solid. This is an amazing program and deserves the cnet accolades. Not just a simple landscape renderer - it provides vast amounts of control over the landscape with a accessible and, for the power available, easily usable interface. Unbelievable that it's freeware!

"crashed win2k"
Version: GenesisII 4.0
Summary
installing it crashed my win2k even though its one of the platforms allowed. I can't believe this was listed in computer shopper as a "50 best". Pink slip time for someone at cnet

"Does not appear to work under Windows 2000."
Version: GenesisII 4.0
Summary
While I note obvious support for Windows NT, this program and the associated programs on the website do not appear to run under Windows 2000. Anyone else have better results?
