What's new in this version:
Map update is available now.Support iOS9.Stability improvement.
The voices are loud and clear. The graphics of upcoming "tricky" turns is nice. It will automatically recalculate a new route if you miss a turn. It will allow the user to preview the route by watching the app "drive" the route ahead of time (sped up to 3x). Google street view is incorporated so you can see what your destination looks like ahead of time. The interface is easy to navigate and intuitive. Free map upgrades. No internet connection necessary; it uses a map downloaded to the phone, and it tracks your location by using GPS which doesn't require an internet connection.
You can't reorganize the menu (Favorite Locations is down lower on the list than I'd like it to be). You can't find a destination by using photo geotags. The maps look fine, but some polish might be nice. Garmin has had the same style of maps for quite a few years now.
A good, solid navigation app for Bangkok. StreetPilot has performed well, and makes driving here a little less stressful. Worth the money.

Garmin StreetPilot Thailand doesn't need an internet connection to work while you're on the road, but you WILL need to give it a few second to connect to the internet if you want it to take current traffic conditions into consideration. If it's fully disconnected from the internet it might indicate that all traffic is moving smoothly when, actually, traffic is at a standstill. Before leaving, I simply switch on cellular data (I don't have a data plan) and the traffic updates to show current conditions. I only have to connect for about 20 seconds and then I turned my cellular data plan off again. Using that information, StreetPilot is much more effective at getting me to my destination while avoiding the worst traffic. If you're buying StreetPilot and live in a place prone to traffic jams (such as Bangkok), be prepared to give it a few seconds of internet time every once in a while in order to get the current traffic conditions or it might direct you into an avoidable a traffic jam.
Updated on Nov 22, 2014I can no longer recommend this app. When the live traffic data subscription expired I considered buying a subscription. However, there wasn't an option in the in-app purchases section to upgrade. I contacted tech support and, despite explaining that the option wasn't listed, they simply told me to upgrade from within the app. Thanks for nothing, Garmin! Consequently, I moved on to a different navigation app, and couldn't be happier. Don't waste your time (or money) with Garmin StreetPilot Thailand.
