"Still the Best and Becoming Better"
Version: GarageSale 4.0.4
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I am thankful for the latest version albeit it got off to a rocky start it is proving to be better than the last version with more to choose from, and a better layout for me. The upgrade cost is minor, and I fail to see what people are complaining about, but it has become fashionable to complain about upgrade prices in the Mac community as it seems more Mac users are heading to the "freebie" category. That's fine, but those products typically provide less value.
Regarding Auctiva, which eBay pushes, it's okay but you get boring results, and I am not interested in anything that eBay pushes as eBay is as incessant at pushing their rubbish (e.g., when using PayPal you have to jump through hoops to switch to another funding source versus PayPal directly removing funds from your bank account, and PayPal provides no preference to cease the hoop jumping). What really needs to happen is a good source of choice with Goggle finally taking on eBay in a major way as eBay itself is becoming less and less attractive. -
"Not ready for prime time"
Version: GarageSale 4.0.1
Summary

I am waiting for a reply from the company. They have made one SERIOUS error in GS4 -- I can no longer search my own auctions for my own product codes, which effectively means I cannot use the program that I paid for. In the past (excellent) version, I could open it, search for "PHS610" (my own product code) and find the auction to relist immediately. This fundamental, basic functionality is broken in GS4. Sadly, while this is a fantastic app, the company is just not good about replying to customer concerns or making changes that we need/ Thus, I cannot recommend this version at all. -

"GarageSale 4 crashes constantly and there is no..."

...support from the company

I upgraded to version 4 from 3 and the program constantly crashes. I did a complete uninstall - reinstall thinking something might have been corrupt it still crashed every time I launch. I sent emails to the company and have not heard back. The photos in the listing don't appear correctly and it takes forever to get your stuff listed. I guess I should have gone with iSale. -
"Still slow at cacheing"
Version: GarageSale 4.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Been using this for about a year and still find the cacheing between different layouts very slow. Can this please be improved? I also have a suggestion - please add a visit counter to the widget. I like to keep an eye on the activity of my auctions and for this I have to log in via a browser every time I want to check. If the widget had a counter on it, it would be a lot easier! Otherwise, I LOVE this software. -
"Awful"
Version: GarageSale 4.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I liked version 3, so when version 4 came out I paid for the upgrade. Big mistake.
Some features don't work properly, others require additional clicks of the mouse (or steps) for the data to be entered properly, and support is non-existent plus their Help wiki seems to be outdated.
When contacting support, there's no email confirmation or incident number.
About half the auctions I wanted to upload to eBay did not get uploaded. Now instead of paying $0.20 I have to pay between $5 and $6 per auction thanks to GarageSale's inefficiency. Additionally, there were no messages to tell me about this failure to start my scheduled auctions.
I definitely regret "upgrading" to version 4. For me version 3 had been a 5-star application. This one is just awful. -

I'm pretty disappointed that since I purchased this back on Sept. 18th, 2007 that it isn't covered under the upgrade special. 3.41 was the last version that I had and now all of a sudden it's on version 4? Come on guys, I know MacWorld is coming up but can you cut us a break?

"Charging for a Beta product"
Version: GarageSale 4.0b6
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've used this for a while and it's interesting to see that the version numbers have gone from 3.4.1 straight to 4.0.b5 overnight. It sounds like they are trying to cash in and make users pay for a version increase which is in fact still beta (why not implement the upgrade fee when it's out of beta???).
I can't really see much extra functionality that i'd use for the money between 3.4 & 4.0 so for the time being i'll be sticking with the older version which works just fine.
I'm all for paying for upgrade's within reason, but give me something substantial for my money else i'm going to start looking elsewhere.

"Cool!"
Version: GarageSale 3.4.1

I agree with these guys, Garagesale is a wicked program!
I've been using it for 18 months, and it does keep getting better & better. My wintel buddies are always jealous with the sleek templates provided in Garagesale, not to mention being able to upload my photos to my idisk instead of ebays crappy (and expensive) picture manager.
This week I downloaded over 2000 listings and templates from my brother in-laws ebay shop to help him with some editing. Although it did slow down slightly, I was impressed with how it dealt with that number of listings in comparison to Turbo lister.
The Macro tags in the design template manager are great, and I was able to add the tags into a template designed in Turbo lister so it was editable straight from the templates section in garagesale, without touching the HTML code.
The best thing of all is the price. Whether you're selling a few items, or you have an ebay shop with thousands of items, it's an affordable option that makes life so much easier and your templates cooler, you'd be a fool to not consider buying it!
