"Great for old and new machines alike"

July 24, 2009  |  By virgo70

 |  Version: Game Booster 1.1

Pros

Tells you exactly what processes its shutting down, and also gives you the option to shut down some unneeded programs as well. Great for use on low memory systems, also boosts processor performance and video card performance. Highly recommended.

Cons

Nothing yet, as mentioned in another review, updates for the program are manual. Hopefully will change, but if not its a free program after all.

Summary

Will recommend this program to all my friends. IMHO im still kinda testing this product, and a little leery about how many services are being shut down in Windows. I'm degreed as a Net Admin, and Windows likes being in control of everything, with all its (bloated) processes running. Have not been online gaming with it yet but will see if friends who play WOW will test it. No crashes, lockups, BSOD's in XP although recovery time for game shutdown and process recovery is undesireable. Never will test in Vista.

Machine specs:
2.4Ghz Pent 4 no HT on a Medion PC SIS chipset board (This machine was borrowed mine died)
512 MB Crucial 266Mhz DDR RAM
Nvidia FX 5200 128MB VRAM
40 GB Western Digital HDD 5400 RPM
250 GB Maxtor HDD 7200 RPM

Pros

Does exactly whats intended. Turns off over 20 processes from secondary login to automatic updates while you play a game. I wish windows had a made a little program like this built in.

On the street fighter 4 benchmark test, my average fps went from 80 to 88 and a score of 10703 to 1100. Have not had a problem or crash with it yet but i'm on a XP Professional 32 bit.

"Does What it is Intended to Do."

July 02, 2009  |  By Mrite

 |  Version: Game Booster 1.1

Pros

Stops the unnecessary, annoying, background applications, that run in the background, while you are gaming, with one click. This newest update (1.1) also has a memory defrag, which shows you how much memory has been freed up.

Cons

The manual update. It would be nice if it auto updated. But, its free and you are notified of updates if you sign up for them, so I'm not complaining.

Summary

It works and it's simple.
