Game Booster is an easy-to-use program that shuts down unnecessary system processes in order to improve the performance of resource-thirsty games. With an intuitive interface that makes it easy to switch between gaming mode and normal mode, Game Booster is a simple but powerful program.

Game Booster's interface is basic, with a list of 24 noncritical processes that can be shut down during gaming. Check boxes allow users to select specific processes. It is true that you have to take a leap of faith with some of these; if you're not extremely computer savvy, you may have no idea what it is that you're shutting down. We can say that our system suffered no ill effects from temporarily disabling all of the listed processes, and the program quickly started them again when we switched back to normal mode. We do wish that the program came with a Help file that went into detail about this issue, though. In addition to disabling unnecessary system processes, Game Booster offers a game defragmenter that specifically defragments the game directories, allowing a given game to start and run more quickly. Overall, we found Game Booster to be both easy to use and effective. We noticed a significant difference in game performance when using gaming mode, and we think this is a great choice for users who need to optimize their systems for gameplay.

Game Booster is free. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.

"Game Booster 3.5 Beta is great!"

September 24, 2012  |  By ExperimentalElementDude

 |  Version: Game Booster 3.4

Pros

Improves framerate and system performance.

Auto boost and auto restore with games.

Cons

Recording function is not good. (better use fraps)

I heard the gamebox has a limit.

Summary

Review and walkthrough for getting better gaming performance!

Used 3.4 beta also, but did not see any difference in frame-rate and so no improvement for me.
But when using 3.5 Beta on my 7 month old Asus laptop, the games ran better and really improved the system plus gaming experience.
Modern Warfare 3 now runs fast and smooth on highest resolution with Geforge 610M.
I used a lot of gaming boosters like Mz Game Accelerator, GBooster and Wise Game Booster.
A lot of these game boosters also worked great, but wise game booster made my older desktop worse with disabling certain aero effects and speeding up system speedup items/options that made the system go into slow motion instead of speed.
At this point i use Wise Game Booster for optimizing the three stability options in system optimizer (works almost like spywareblaster where it just runs in the background without interruption).
Next to that i just use Iobit's gamebooster 3.5 beta for temporary shutting down certain processes and services.
Leaving at standard settings when you almost have no processes in the background is good enough.
But when you have a manufactured desktop or laptop with a lot of bloatware, i would suggest you also manually select processes.
Right click on a process and click on more information will bring you to iobit's process information page with user advice.

On laptop i also use gamebooster's tweaks through tools tab, but have not used it on older desktop.
Like mentioned before, i use wise game booster for optimizing certain system parts/options.
I also used gamebooster 3.5 beta in combination with Mz Game Accelerator (available at softpedia) which also did an amazing job.
But it did not ran perfect all the time because gamebooster and mz optimizer ran at the same time. (maybe conflicts)

If you use gamebooster 3.5 beta, i would suggest you also have a good and safe optimize cleaner program like for example CCleaner, Jetclean or ToolWiz Care. Also Auslogics disk defrag is great.
A ram cleaner like for example Minimem would also work great if you only have 4GB ram or less.

As it go's for drivers, i always update my videocard and audio drivers manually from official websites.
Also intel auto driver update utitility from intel website and driverpack solution 2012 (always advanced install for me) work great for updating and installing new drivers.

If you still don't like gamebooster 3.5 beta, i would suggest you test GBooster or Wise Game Booster.
But gamebooster (or GBoost) in combination with MSI Afterburner should also work great.
But be aware, afterburner is a graphics card overclock program and only use standard auto settings with MSI Afterburner if you don't know what you are doing.

"Absolutely horrible update"

February 09, 2013  |  By fuqdapoleez

 |  Version: Game Booster 3.4

Pros

There is literally no improvement from the last version. If anything, it's a blatant downgrade.

Cons

You have to log in to a razer account every time you use it
You need an internet connection just to run it
Lots of bloatware. This version itself is double the size of the previous versions.
You can't just run it, you have to have it launch a game and keep the game on.
The "login" seems to be there so that the companies can keep track of the user's information for data mining. This type of underhanded practice is what gives companies a bad name.

Summary

Look for GB 3.5 Beta or lower if you want to use it

"Game Booster"

November 19, 2012  |  By clarkdaw

 |  Version: Game Booster 3.4

Pros

This program scans the games loaded. It offers you what you do not need running to play your games. It boots up fast and then loads my games quickly as well. Though I rarely had game issues of slow loading screens, I see I never get those things any more!

Cons

I have not run into any issues using this program with my WinXP Pro.

Summary

Such that you play your games, I sincerely recommend this! And it is all free!

November 15, 2012  |  By GehovaGyra

 |  Version: Game Booster 3.4

Pros

It removes a lot of overhead from RAM and changes settings all in one button push. It also will restore those same settings when desired.

Cons

I have to shut it down after use to free RAM the software is using.

Summary

The IObit software has been very trustworthy over the years. I recommend any of their software with intelligent use.

And thats what im after.

Summary

It slowed my game = uninstall. But you go ahead and try it.

"Game Booster is World of Warcraft Love"

October 25, 2012  |  By ElvesAteMyRamen

 |  Version: Game Booster 3.4

Pros

Recommends running programs that could be switched off to boost game play.
Shows you what is currently running in detail & if you're not sure whether you want to keep it or not, there's a link to click that will show you what people recommend.
Easy to use-just click "Boost & Launch" & game starts right up.
Just as easy to turn off if needed or if you want to change something.
IT'S FREE!!!!!!!

Cons

None-it unclogs the memory, leaves on what you need, all for free!

Summary

Absolutely love it! I have a brand new laptop & thought my World of Warcraft game would run smooth as butter...after one too many jerky graphics, I found Game Booster through CNET. Downloaded & was amazed when it brought up all the junk I had running in the background & after clicking off 30=something odd programs, it cleared over 400,000 mb of memory! I've been using Game booster for a few weeks now & have never had any issue with it & am enjoying a totally smooth, high-graphics gameplay.:)
