"GIMP is amazing Photo Editing Software"
As others have said before, GIMP is the only Photo Editing program that truly does almost everything that Photoshop Elements does. Plus, it handles all file types.
I was told about this program by the photographers on Google+, who educated me as to the differences between a photo organizer, photo-editing, and true photo manipulation. This program is tops for the latter!
Runs in "one-interface mode," so you don't have to be moving and resizing toolbars.
A little confusing at first. I suggest downloading the help manual directly from the GIMP site.
I can't find the screen capture controls, nor the photo-stitching controls for panoramic shots, which is why I am rating this program a "4" instead of a "5." I will ask the gurus at Google+ for that information later.
Currently, I am using "PhotoScape" or "IRFanView" for capturing images on the Internet, and "Microsoft Ice" for panoramic stitching. I hate using 3 different programs, even though it takes seconds to perform each function with each of those other programs.
All of the programs that I have mentioned above, work in Windows 8.
