Version: GIMP 2.6.6
"A great program and it's free."
Pros: Lot of good features. I'm new to the program and trying to learn how to use GIMP. Manual instructions could be better explaining tools.
Cons: I find that GIMP requires 4 or 5 more steps to accomplish a task as compared to one step process in Paint.net and Inkscape. This frustrates me.

"It still would have been awesome at 3 times the price."
Pros: Full range of functions to enhance, correct, and/or have fun with your photos.
Cons: Learning curve was intimidating but not insurmountable.
Summary: I would recommend this program as an alternative to Photoshop any day hands down. I could go on for the next 4800 characters but still would not be able to do it justice and to stress using this program vs Photoshop. HAVE FUN or START A BUSINESS .... read more

Pros: Like all the features that I have seen listed in this program. This about all I can say about it right now as I am having a hard time learning it how to use this program. Maybe if I ever learn it, I can give it more stars later.
Cons: Amazed at all the people who said this was easy to use, especially the user who said he learned it in 10 minutes! Hate using 2 separate windows & no help file, except online. Needs a help file explaining features in the program--not only online!
Summary: I guess if I keep reading everything about how to use GIMP, I may learn it in time and learn to love it, but right now I am so frustrated with it. (And I do have a college degree!) Even tech support sites I belong to have a hard time trying to expla... read more

Pros: This free program is very, very good. I have used several free programs and this one is at the top. You have so much control. There is a pretty good on-line manual to help with the use of this program. They are always making it better.
Cons: It will be too complicated for people who want a simple photo-editing program with just basic tools. If you do not like to read, you probably will not refer to the manual. It has a steep learning curve for most people.
Summary: This program gives me all of the tools I need to get the desired results. It has sophisticated features to help do almost any graphics task you can dream up. Do not be turned off by the name: GIMP; it is just an acronym for a very good system. Hey it... read more
