"Powerful, easy to use, and very well supported"
Version: Fund Manager Personal 8.0.1
Pros
The learning curve for this program is very short. The web site provides an excellent tutorial and most of the functions are intuitive. It is very easy to set up accounts and the report feature is outstanding. The web site is very well set up and any questions that are posted are answered within 24 hours.

Pros
This will help you control all your business effectively.

"Nothing else like it for the money!!!"
Version: Fund Manager Personal 7.5
Pros
I searched high and low for portfolio management software. Fund Manager is the only portfolio management software that met my requirements and sold for under $500. Fund Manager's is AIMR compliant. That means that its financial calculations like yield and rate of return comply with the financial industries standards.
Most popular financial software does NOT calculate investment returns correctly. If you have transactions during the evaluation period, which most real world portfolios do, most other software packages calculate investment return rates incorrectly. Therefore, you really do not know how your portfolio is doing.
Fund Manager downloads your transactions from many financial institutions.
Reporting flexibility is a strength. The variety of data fields available to set up your own reports is incredible. I have been able to set it up in a way that lets me track my portfolio in many different ways. In addition, I get the information I need to help me make investment decisions.
Finally, I got great telephone support. They took the time to answer my questions. It is a small operation so sometimes they could not answer my call. I left a message. I always got a return call the same day.
Cons
The software is not as user friendly as it could be. Perhaps because there is so much data and so many options it can take time to figure out what to do.
Sometimes I have missed getting a transaction downloaded from my broker. I have not been able to figure out if this problem is caused by my broker or by the software. It happens infrequently but it means that I always have to double check for data integrity. I used to use Quicken that had a somewhat similar problem. That makes me think that it is a broker issue.

"Excellent and complete stock and mutual fund investment management"
Version: Fund Manager Personal 7.3
Pros
Fund Manager is a complete investment management application, including the ability to download transactions directly from your brokerage account and to update prices anytime you wish. Accounting (and tax treatment of investment lots) is exactly what is needed - followed by impressive built in reporting and graphics for analyzing your portfolio based on asset allocation, investment basis and gains/losses, dividend reinvestment detail, IRR, yield, etc. And if the report you want isn't there - you can create your own custom report.
The graphics capability are a key strength - incorporating historical pricing with indicators of your specific buy, sale, and dividend transactions.
Version 7 incorporates "sub-portfolio's" which allow analysis at unlimited levels of summarization across your portfolios. A simple example is retirement vs non-retirement accounts. VERY flexible.
The author regularly responds to questions in a web based discussion forum (very patiently, even when the user hasn't bothered to read any of the previous comments!) -- the archive has answers to every question imaginable. The long history of updates and upgrades to this software are a tribute to the author! Fund Manager has been a top rated package for many years (since the mid 1990's) but only gets better.
If you have been using another package for your investment tracking and portfolio management - Fund Manager has excellent Import functionality (and excellent Export functions as well). I've used portfolio management software for about 20 years - and Fund Manager is the best of the 5 different packages I've used!!

"Works well for European and Swiss investors too"
Version: Fund Manager Personal 7.3
Pros
Contrary to what the first Canadian user wrote, the author does care about the users.
I had small difficulties retrieving data from Swissquote and he did help and proposed solutions. Finally the problem was in the IE cookies.
Fund Manager really does everything that I want, the customizable transaction import is quite powerful once you have your data in an excel sheet. (Swissquote does not offer transaction retrieve as far as I know).
Some other packages I downloaded lasted about 10 minutes until I de-installed them.
Fund Manager is excellent if you have more than one broker and investments in different currencies, as everybody should have to spread risks.
I also find the price structure fair, other software I found on the net where at least an order of magnitude higher.

"Works well for this Canadian"
Version: Fund Manager Personal 7.0
Pros
Unlike the previous reviewer, I have had no trouble downloading updated quotes for Canadian securities AND mutual funds using their updated quote servers.
This is the only product I have found to do all the calculations I want (Internal rate of return, annual return, ect). Making bi-weekly contributions makes manual calculations of this data difficult. Why Quicken does not do these I don't know? Why my broker won't do this I don't know either. I guess that is why this product exists. The price is a little steep but as it is really the only product I have found that can do all I want, including obtaining Canadian data, I am happy to pay.
Cons
I am having some difficulty with getting historical data but am coming up with some workarounds.

"Canadians Should Forget This Product"
Version: Fund Manager Personal 7.0
Pros
Very good graphics, flexibility and performance.
Cons
NO SUPPORT for Canadian investors. Canadian investments won't update much of the time. And the software developer doesn't seem to give a damn.
Not worth the headaches if you're investing in Canadian stocks and mutual funds.
