"Perfect fix for incompatibility issues."
Version: Fuji FinePix A340 firmware 1.22
Pros
The firmware upgrade worked for a 2Gb M+ xD card in my FinePix A340. Easy to apply the fix.
Cons
No downside at all.
Summary
I upgraded to use a 2Gb M+ card in my Finepix A340. No problems, just follow the instructions, make sure you have your original smaller card in the camera to load the .DAT file onto, then upgrade the firmware. Then insert the M+ card, connect to your PC with the USB cable, and format the card (FAT) using right click - Properties on Windows Explorer.Very easy and satisfying fix. The site instructions were almost complete - could probably help beginners with more information on formatting the M and M+ cards. Otherwise, this upgrade was a huge relief. I thought I had wasted my money on a new larger card until I found the upgrade.

"Install sounds scary, but read the instructions and take your time, it works."
Version: Fuji FinePix A340 firmware 1.22
Pros
Firmware update worked, and now camera works with 1GB SD card. The real trick is to format your smaller SD card and copy the *.dat file to it. Then follow the instructions and it works. The firmware will be updated and the 1GB SD card will work. If you try to format and copy the file to the new 1GB SD card it will fail the install.. I tried this several times before putting the old 16MB card in and formatting it. Happy for the update to the firmware.
Cons
The install instructions might have been more clear about which SD card the firmware update file should have been copied too.
