"Running well for me on Tiger (X.4.4)"
Version: FrostWire 4.10.5
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Launching a bit faster than the older versions, stable w/o crashes or freezes. The new interface looks nice (I like it). But if I use the download link in the top here on VT, I got an older version (4.10.3)
the correct links will work well and fast

"HELLO"
Version: FrostWire 4.10.5
Summary

The past couple updates WILL NOT open. It bounces in the dock once and that's it, nothing. Maybe screwing with this UB for intel macs is doing it. There's a lot more people out here that don't have them then do. G3 B/W, G4 processor, OS 10.4.4 -
"This version Crashes Too Much"
Version: FrostWire 4.10.0

version 4.9.37 was more stabe than this 'newer' release. Tried 4.10.0 and it keeps crashing after 15 minutes. -
"Excellent perfomance"

I gave up on Limewire along time ago, but recently I was desperate for something that works so I tried FrostWire and it really is great. It's downright speedy, I haven't been this giddy about P2P since the old days of Napster on a high speed conncetion! I was actually having flashbacks.
Anyway, this software is excellent, and I would say, a whole notch above LimeWire in more than just it's freeness. Good work. -
"Good, solid code. Minor interface improvements over..."
Version: FrostWire 4.9.37
Summary
...LimeWire.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.This project should and will be compared to LimeWire -- after all it is the "free" (open source) portion of that popular piece of software. This is a wonderful development because this means that if LimeWire LLC ever stops operating (or place restrictions on the operation of LimeWire) then their very cool software will live on in its original form.
It works as well as LimeWire (and, as poorly as LimeWire if your glass is half empty), and, as with LimeWire does best if it's the only thing running under 256 MB of RAM or is only used with one or two other apps under 512 MB of RAM.
Feature-wise you can't go wrong. It does everything that LimeWire (free as in $$) can do, and, it doesn't have the annoying (and disruptive) nagware alert when it first opens.
If you like LimeWire and you're looking for an open source (FLOSS) alternative to that product then this is the app for you. If you don't like LimeWire (as per the earlier oh-so helpful post) and are looking for something different (or faster), this is not the app for you.
PS When you post your reviews or rants, please remember two things: this software is free ($$$) and free (speech); and, LimeWire LLC has done a great service to the computing community by working on this project and making their code available to the public, free of charge and restrictions.
Enjoy!
