All it does is say it's "starting connection" but it almost never does connect. And when it does, it stays on erratically. Something wen terribly wrong with this update!
Summary
If you have an older version that works, stick with it.
Well no sooner had I submitted my review that I see that there's an update that corrects "connectivity issues". Lo and behold, much better connectivity!

"A good downloading program with a few glitches."
Version: FrostWire 4.18.6
Pros
Frostwire is smooth and straightforward. It runs well and seldom crashes, even with fairly aggressive virus checking happening in the background. Its interface is especially clear and easy to read. It searches, uploads and downloads at high speeds.
Cons
As far as the magnet and torrent functions, I had no luck with them; they did not seem to do anything, though it could be "user error." It is difficult to specify the minimum size of files you want since there is no explanation of the units to use.
Summary
I like Frostwire, at least on the gnutella network. It plays well with others -- I usually run Frostwire, LimewirePro and uTorrent simultaneously with one or two virus scanners and it will go all day without a glitch (while I am on the Web yet).
I think there used to be a way to define the minimum file size you wanted in MB; this would be very welcome in Frostwire. Also, many of the file uploads and downloads need more sources so don't start, and my impression is that Frostwire is not aggressively looking for these additional sources, since when I manually start it looking for sources it finds quite a few.
It is easy to define the folders for shared and private files in Frostwire, as well as install the software in general. It easily handles saving keywords, searches, downloaded files and additional files available for download on external storage, even on different USB drives (handy).
The search function could be made a bit more specific -- I think there are only 5-10 total categories, so you do a lot of sifting. It does not seem to return a large number of matches unless you repeatedly left-click on the tab and the "find more results" option. Doing this, though, can result in many hundreds of results, which Frostwire present, organizes, offers in a variety of views and generally handles very smoothly.
I will keep using Frostwire in anticipation of easier use of their magnet and torrent files, and by some off chance a better way to define searches. I find Limewire returns more search results and certainly runs better on Macs, but I am sometimes amazed at the number of files Frostwire has been able to get downloaded -- it is very efficient in that regard.
I've used Frostwire for a long time, and have seen it improve. I have no idea it will continue to improve and look forward to the next major release. -
