For a totally free, space-efficient program, this snowboarding game gives you a pretty killer ride. Freeride Earth requires no real installation process to speak of; you simply extract all the game files to a folder, then click the EXE to begin playing. Since this program only provides one mountain on which to shred, your goal is simply to achieve the highest score possible by using the space bar and the arrow keys to pull off jumps, spins, and tricks. You start with a very short amount of time on the clock, so you also must take care to collect the bright blue tokens that will extend your ride. The minimal help files don't explain how many points a certain trick scores, so you'll probably want to experiment. The 3D graphics may not knock hard-core gamers out cold, but most other folks will find them more than suitable. Our biggest gripe about Freeride Earth is its total lack of features; you can't even turn off the sound effects or choose to play with your mouse. Besides that, we can't complain much about this free game and think it makes a surprisingly addictive time killer.Publisher's description

This little charmer is just what players need to wind down from a long hard day. The randomly generated 3D mountains are as beautiful and soothing as the sound of cutting fresh powder. However, we think the real charm of this snowboarding sim is that it's not made by a major developer and it's wide open for updates and gameplay add-ons.

"Not bad freeware 3d snowboarding"
Pros: +Graphics look pretty good for freeware (like first 3d accelerated games)

Pros: Hey, it's free.
Cons: This game could have been pretty decent, but it lacks so many features that it isn't worth it. For example, there are no customization features, no tutorials for figuring out how to use the controls, no options, nothing. The "contest mode" is too short to figure out how to do anything in it. The controls themselves are pretty lean. Also, there are no directions of any sort to tell you what to do at all. The developers of this game really could have done so much better than they did making this program worth while.

Summary: this game is nothing like snowboarding. graphics are terrible, the time counts down from 50 to 0 in less than 10 seconds, only one gameplay mode, and above all, what is up with the propeller on the back?
