"Does the job quickly and easily!! Love it!"

    January 8, 2012  |   By nummysmom

    Version: FreeRIP 3.6

    Pros

    1. It is VERY easy to install without the things that some people are complaining about!!
    2. It installs quickly and easily.
    3. The interface is easy to figure out. User(and newbie)friendly.
    4. Converted my music tracks to Mp3s very quickly.
    5. Does not contain any viruses or malware.

    Cons

None that I have found so far.

    Summary

I am blown away by all the comments about this program installing a toolbar and changing the browser(which can trigger your antivirus/malware software). The second window in the installation process gives you the option of NOT doing that!!! Jeeze people...pay attention!!!
I needed a program that would take tracks off my CDs and convert them to Mp3s so that I could put them on my Kindle Fire. The FreeRip software is PERFECT for that! It was so easy to download(without adding the toolbar and changing my browser). After opening the FreeRip software, it literally took 2 clicks and the files were converted. So easy!! It was so fast too! I am beyond thrilled with this program and would highly recommend it!

    "Great music converting product."

    December 30, 2011  |   By ArmyChief3

    Version: FreeRIP 3.6

    Pros

Fast download, does the job advertised, and is free. Also easy to figure out how to use. I really like it.

    Cons

Desktop shortcut for converted music content is annoying for me.

    Summary

If you has Windows 7 you need a music converter and I would recommend this one. I was able to convert music files from
Windows 7 Media Center to copy to Mp3 SD card to listen on my now old Palm TX PDA. Thanks CNET for showing me the way to resolve my problem.

"Good: Does what it says; NO malware if you READ"

    December 10, 2011  |   By steph6n

    Version: FreeRIP 3.6

    Pros

    - the interface is simple and attractive with visual buttons and tool tips when you hover over them
    - the program loads quickly and automatically opens song loaded on the CD ROM if a disc is in there
    - it converts without any delay and produces great quality uncompromising results.
NO MAL-WARE OR VIRUSES whatsoever, contrary to a lot of other misinformed people's opinion.

    Cons

    - the program itself has Optional browser-changing additives that, if you don't pay attention, will get automatically implemented. This does not include ones included in CNET's version (see Summary for explanation)
    - default destination file is neither specified nor asked for when you click Convert; but you can change this beforehand under File - Settings - Options. Hint: put it into your My Music folder.
    - several other Settings, Options and Features are inaccessible in the Free Version, but who's complaining? It does the job.

    Summary

CNET embeds the actual installation file into a Shell that asks if you want to install the Babylon Toolbar, but you don't have to click "accept" when ASKED for it in order to get the program. It's CNET's way of making money. The actual program installation file itself is available directly from their site freerip-com (manually enter the period). This file ALSO has optional features which you can deny by selecting "Custom" before you hit Next. That way you can UN-click everything else, including desktop icons etc.
Simply put, if you READ what's in front of you before clicking away, you will have less to complain about in commentaries.
