Easily optimize and manage your PC performance with this small yet comprehensive application, but using it may overwhelm novices at first. FreeMem Pro's skinnable interface features several ways to free up your RAM consumption. You can choose options by using either the mouse or a hot key. Our tests revealed that only the manual free-up feature lets the user determine the amount of memory to be freed. All other features run automatically but still require some user intervention. The program graphically charts your system's amount of free RAM, which is a very nice feature. The fully functional 30-day trial should be sufficient for users to decide whether the program is worth buying. FreeMem Pro might offer more than novice users can easily comprehend at first, whereas savvier users will appreciate all the features this program has to offer.

"Doesn't recognize more than 4GB of RAM"

April 22, 2010  |  By NotesTracker2010

 |  Version: FreeMem Pro 5

Pros

It does no better then FreeRAM XP Pro, which is FREE and just as good (certainly better=priced).

Cons

Like most of such Windows memory management utilities, FreeMem Pro does not even recognize that you have more than 4 GB of RAM installed.

Summary

Don''t waste your money, use another utility such as FreeRAM XP Pro (which also works in Vista and Windows 7, including 64-bit versions). The only one that I've found so fora which recognizes more than 4 GB of RAM is TweakRAM, but this is horrendously slow in freeing up memory. FreeRAM XP Pro might not report more than 4 GB of RAM as being present, but at least it frees memory very fast (and being free is thereby a much better proposition than FreeMem Pro).

"Keeps CPU usage and RAM usage in Check"

March 20, 2007  |  By Paldrion

 |  Version: FreeMem Pro 5

Pros

Configure the utility to make a periodic check and if RAM usage is higher than the setting you configure, it forces all processes to dish out to Virtual memory to save RAM & CPU usage.

Cons

Would be nice if it ran as a service. Would be nice if you could specify RAM limits for specific processes on a permanent basis.

"SUPERB PIECE OF SOFTWARE"

December 01, 2006  |  By peterlohr

 |  Version: FreeMem Pro 5

Pros

Since I installed Freemem 5 on my computer, I have a lot less crashes and it generally runs much faster

Cons

I did install 4 gigs of ram into my machine, and now it seems like freemem doesnt know what to do with it.

I am not sure if this is a problem with Windows XP itself or if the FreeMem programmers never anticipated anybody having 4 gb of ram installed on their computers

"Free Me from FreeMem"

December 23, 2003

 |  Version: FreeMem Pro 5

Summary

I know that Windows ME is not the most stable OS out there, but I have never experienced more puzzling and more frequent crashes after installing this product. After 2 days of trying to be patient, I uninstalled it, removed all traces from my computer, and have returned to a laptop that does not crash every 20 minutes. I'm thankful that I paid half-price for it, but I'll stick with the good freeware, thanks.

"Unstable with Windows XP"

November 07, 2003  |  By rmblue2

 |  Version: FreeMem Pro 5

Summary

Although the system is unique, it becomes unstable after a month or two of use.I purchased this software and ran it for a couple of month's, and started having system crashes, and became more frequent. As theses crashes would happen I could see the FreeMem Pro icon in the tray pop out red and the indicater showed it used a whole 768mb of ram, and then it would crash. Fortunatly the Windows Xp and my system will automatically re-boot itself after a crash.
After re-boot, a window would pop up stating windows received a fatal error, and would like me to report it to Microsoft. Microsoft states although they cannot detect the exact device that caused this problem, it was most likley a pooly written software program, or a plug in.
I removed FreeMem Pro from my system, and backed it up. I have not had a crash since removing FreeMem Pro. I wrote to 3b software support to let them know of this problem, and they never contacted me or acknowleged it whatsoever. It may work good on some operating systems, but is very unstable with Windows XP.
I would defenatly not recommend this software for Xp users.
