"Gave old computer second wind"

I have a ten year old dell desktop running Windows XP, which I haven't used in 2 years. I've been trying to get it running again, despite its repeated complaints, because I'm now using a mac laptop, and I need windows to use turbolister on ebay. It wasn't going anywhere- this computer had so many problems it was funny. I tried Free Windows Registry Cleaner as a last resort - 2866 errors. After fixing them, the next run found 169. Then 31. Then 18. That was good enough. In under 5 minutes, and free. Check out ebay for my new listings! (same username)

Install was simple. So far the software does what it says...it found over 1000 registry errors and "repaired" them.
Cons
I don't know what the software does when its 'repairing'. I've been chasing a good utility that doesn't contain malware itself and I am doubting the integrity of CNET's reviews lately but, like I said, so far, so good.

Pros
Finds and repairs many more errors than a lot of commercial products do, and it scans quickly. Default setting is to create a restore point before making changes to the registry so if something does go awry, you can recover from it.
Cons
User interface is a bit sparse. As with many registry scanners, it can take a number of scans to find all the errors.
Summary
The biggest complaint I've seen about this software is that it finds the same errors over and over and can't fix them. Did you ever bother to right-click on the entry and launch Regedit and take a look? A lot of those keys can't be deleted because of permissions they are in use by Windows, or are corrupt. Since YOU can't delete them, the program isn't going to be able to either. Generally once you get to that point, it's cleaned up pretty much every thing it can and if you want to go further your going to have to do some research and do some manual editing. Nothing's perfect, and for free I don't think you can complain much.

Had a weird error that popped out of nowhere, did some research on the error and it mentioned that it may be a registry issue and they were right. I download another one but they wanted $$ so I tried this one instead and it worked perfectly.

So I did a registry scan with this thing, it found a bunch of errors for me. So I fixed them by pressing "Fix Now." It fixes instantly. I'm happy so I do another scan. Expecting there to be no new registry errors, there are the EXACT SAME REGISTRY ERRORS THAT IT SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but this is ridiculous.

Summary
I kept trying every other free & paid so-called registry cleaner while ignoring this one. When I faced a real registry problem unsolvable by others, I gave it a chance & bingo! It solved each & every reg problem I had come to know.
