    "Works as advertised!"

    September 9, 2010  |   By scoff_man

    Version: Free Registry Defrag 3.0

    Pros

Simple to use interface. It compacted my registry 8% MORE even after using Uniblue's Registry Booster 2 (2009 edition) commercial utility to optimize & defrag my registry. That's not a huge gain BUT it does show you this FREE app really does work!

    Cons

There are none. (Please CNET, there's no reason to have to enter at least 10 characters for this field...that's just asinine.) http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/asinine

    Summary

It would be nice to actually be able to watch the utility parse through the registry and show where the fragmentation occurs rather than just having a generic progress bar, but it's probably faster that way. To those that have complained that this utility has broken or corrupted Windows on their computer I have this to say: More than likely your system already had a fair amount of registry corruption and by attempting to defrag it you inadvertently made it worse - so you really can't blame this utility for that. It's designed to DEFRAG your registry, not REPAIR it. I'd suggest using this utility prior to defragging the Registry: http://download.cnet.com/Free-Window-Registry-Repair/3000-2086_4-10606555.html Another utility I'd recommend is PageDefrag, which defrags the Page file and the files that make up the Windows Registry (as opposed to defragging the registry itself): http://download.cnet.com/PageDefrag/3000-2086_4-10547422.html

    "Good idea but horrible program!!!"

    June 13, 2010  |   By Skuggvarg

    Version: Free Registry Defrag 3.0

    Pros

Well, the user interface is nice and clean, easy to understand, and the program is fairly fast...but that's about all.

    Cons

After my first use of this program, Windows refused to load! Luckily, I had a restore point, so I could still access my computer. So how about I call this program unstable, unpredictable, unreliable and unworthy of your time? It's just DANGEROUS!!!

    Summary

Well, IF you actually want to use this program, make damn sure you have a way to restore your computer to the way it was before the defragmentation, otherwise you run the risk of seriously damaging your computer.
