"Very good for simple DVD, but lacks video editing"
Version: Free Movie DVD Maker 3.7
Pros
Very good for creating simple DVD, when you already have all the individual clips ready.
Cons
Lacks option for trimming clips. you can not remove unwanted parts of clips, and can not spit them to create different chapters.

"Failed to create DVD Menu...no Help!"
Version: Free Movie DVD Maker 3.7
Pros
For ages, this program seemed to work perfectly, perfect conversion & burns - AFTER I learned that the more videos you put on the disc, the worse quality they will be, (Stick to no more than 6 Hours of film). Quicker Conversion rate than most. Considering this is a free program, it seems to have full functionality & the only "price" is a short splash screen advert at the beginning of each video.
Cons
One day I decided to try & change the background image & music of the DVD menu...uh oh! All of a sudden it started coming up "Failed to create DVD Menu...would you like to burn anyway?" So after saying NO the first time, then re-trying (Oh yes, you can't just try to re-burn...you have to go through the conversion process all over again, & although quicker than most conversion programs, at 3-4 hours a pop, this can be quite time consuminwhen I got the message again, I then clicked YES & ended up with a coaster, as at the very end of the burning process, it claimed the burn was unsuccessful & having checked the disc, it had written NOTHING to it, & finalised the disc. Also there is NO help in the FAQ's on their website & nothing to say, as another reviewer's suggested, that you can't change the menu in the free version.
Summary
Not bad, as long as you don't try to customise your dvd menu...if you do, you're screwed & will find you have a lot of new coasters!

"Works well on Windows 7, runs quickly"

Summary
Not worth upgrading to the paid version

"The Best For Free"
Version: Free Movie DVD Maker 3.7
Pros
Does everything it should. It's really fast. You can even add your own theme music. Handles every type of file I've thrown at it.
Cons
Just two very minor ones. Before each segment, you see their splash screen, and you can't make chapters. You can void the splash screen by coughing up $29.95. I'll live with the ad screen.
Summary
I've seen the other peoples cons. What do you expect for free. It works for me. If you download the free DIVX software offered here on CNET, you'll get an even faster, and better performance from this gem.

"I Love It. I Love It. I Love It."
Version: Free Movie DVD Maker 3.7
Pros
Just works. Compresses large mkv files into a standard-DVD-fit size and burns the thing to top quality in a few clicks. Wish I had found it before, would have saved me of 2 days useless downloading & unstalling other programs (including the huge Corel Trial version) which only resulted in converting mkv to a vob file which was too large to be burnt into a dvd anyway. In love with my Free movie DVD maker :-*
BTW, use the letterbox option (default) and ended with a coppy that filled the whole 16:9 flatscreen TV when played (instead of having the annoying top & bottom black lines as when playing standard DVDs.
Very cute with the option of customizing the DVD Menu, works fine too, no friiz.Cons
So far none (perhaps to well hidden below all possible other crap in the google search).
Summary
Go for it... and enjoy!

"Worked well first try"
Version: Free Movie DVD Maker 3.7
Pros
Free. worked well on win 7; recognized My hardware no problem.
Cons
May take a few tries to get the settings right but records OK - Just need to determine if you want letterbox or stretch etc. It puts an ad for the pro version at the start of each clip.

"First try, error!"
Version: Free Movie DVD Maker 3.7
Pros
I dont know yet.
Cons
I've just tried it for the first time wanting to burn a DVD, selected my mp4 file and wanted to add it, but i got an error!
Only said "failed to add following file(s): blablabla/mp4.
I'm dissapointed now. Anyone know what might be the problem?:( -
"So many things to offer"
Version: Free Movie DVD Maker 3.7
Pros
There are so many uses for this program it is almost impossible to discribe everything all there is to this program.
Cons
Still looking, none found!

"Ads break the flow"
Version: Free Movie DVD Maker 3.7
Pros
It has a great menu feature and allows you to play each scene without going to the menu to push play.
Cons
Before each scene/clip there will be a short ad, so its not suitable for those trying to create a movie that flows.
Summary
Good for choppy movies, not for ones that flow.

"Great program for free."
Version: Free Movie DVD Maker 3.7
Pros
It burns from any format I have tried (mov.,mpg. etc). It works better than my 123 DVD Copy-Gold that I paid $50.00 for. BUT----
Cons
If you burn more than one item (more than one cartoon, or home movie)you get the green advertising banner between each one and the movie, cartoon or whatever doesn't play straight through. You have to click each one seperately to play. I would consider paying for the up-grade but they don't send you a disk, only a download. Lose your hard drive, buy a new p.c., you're toast.
Summary
Good for free. Works when others won't. The green banner at the start of each movie file drives me crazy. I don't trust buying the Pro upgrade.
After researching this app. I found that you can loop the various videos you burn on each dvd. The green banner still comes up before each plays, but if that doesn't bother you, it works really well.
