"Handy little spellchecker"
Version: Free Medical Spell Checker 1.0
Pros
The pros are that is is small, lightweight, loads fast, reliable, and does not need Internet connection. I use this when I am unable to connect to the Internet but need to look something up my other spellchecker misses.
Cons
It has an extremely minimal design. You do have to have a fairly good idea of how to spell the word, because it doesn't "suggest" words for you.
Summary
I don't know why there would be negative reviews for this piece of software because it's reliable and does what it says it does.
How it works is you open up the spell checker, and start typing in a word one letter at a time. It will narrow down the list of words until you hit on what you were looking for.
It can be a little tedious, and I wouldn't ever use it as your main spell checker, but as a medical transcriptionst student I know I will still be keeping this around for when I do need it. -
"WOW! Prett great for free!!"
Version: Free Medical Spell Checker 1.0
Pros
This was downloaded very quickly and is very easy to use. For a free product that was on my computer in 45 seconds I am super impressed. For those who aren't - then go pay $100 and get a Steadmans - be prepared for it to take DAYS to download and crash frequently. Thanks again!!

"No use to me"
Version: Free Medical Spell Checker 1.0
Summary
I didn't feel like this program had a comprehensive enough list of words. I do transcription for neurology clinics and most of the most common words I type weren't even listed. I guess you get what you pay for. Nada.

"What is this supposed to be?"
Version: Free Medical Spell Checker 1.0
Summary
It is a good thing it's free. Why would I pay for a list of words in a drop down menu? I am not too sure I undertsand the purpose of this medical spellchecker. Oh well, it's free!

"Don't waste your time"
Version: Free Medical Spell Checker 1.0
Summary
I immediately typed in two difficult words to see if it would help me spell them correctly: Alzheimers and posriasis. They weren't even listed!
Plus, it got hung up and stayed in the "a" letters even though I was typing a "p" word. You're better off getting a medical dictionary. -
