  "Great software! Better than the one I paid $30 for"

  Pros

  Fast conversion time, by their very nature all video file converters are slow and are CPU hogs. I paid $30 for a SmartSoft converter and this free one far out performs it. I ran a test with a realatively small 70 meg .wmv file. It took the Smartsoft converter 50 minutes from start to finish while Free DVD Maker did the job in 24 minutes. Another big plus is I can run other applications while Free DVD is running in the background. You can forget doing anything else when the SmartSoft Converter is running. Last but not least since its free you can't beat the price.

  Cons

  Its not idiot proof, it lacks some of the bells and whistles of the software you have to pay for. Always remember to put a disk in your DVD drive and let it spin up before you start to convert. If you let Free DVD start before it recognizes your drive speed you will get protection errors when it starts the burn process. Also be sure to select NTSC format if you want to play the DVD on your TV or other DVD playes.

  you get a nice big red ad for FreeDVDMaker in the middle of whatever movie you just burned.

  "freeware that makes your DVD after you die!"

  I started making a DVD movie 1 and 1/2 days ago and after a massive 30 hrs my 42 minute movie is still being burnt on DVD (65% complete at the time of writing!!!!)despite running my computer all the time. Beware when you use this software.
