it made me happy that it would join my videos
Cons
after wrecking my Firefox browser (a nice added bonus) all it did was reconvert my video file. I did not see any joining action whatsoever. Just the same 2 files, remuxed and all.
Summary
It made me so angry since it messed up my browsers that I actually signed up on cnet here. BTW, it did all this after I refused the add ons. What garbage people put out this junk.

Looked for a video joiner for several weeks, noticed that this is a very popular one on CNET, and base on the good reviews post on CNET, I downloaded it. Have to say it's a GOOD product, It does what is advertised to do reliably. It allows me to join many of my videos at the same time and it works fairly well.

I installed on Windows 7 but on running the software it doesn't display properly. All of the buttons on the left and at the bottom are not shown and there's just a white space where they should be.
Therefore the software can't be used for anything at all.Summary
It may be just my laptop, but I don't usually have problems with software. I tried Windows Compatibility Wizard too just in case that resolved it, but it didn't help.

Personally I think Free AVI MPEG WMV MP4 FLV Video Joiner is an excellent video joining program for my needs. It's simple and gets home movies combined without effort.
I spent several minutes using it to join my videos and when I was done it looked almost good enough to put on television.
My families were also extremely impressed with the way it turned out.Cons

Until today I had nothing to really add here but now I do.
I just cannot get it to work any more with my XP PC. Seems to still be fine on Win7.
With my XP machine, having add a few video files to join I am no longer given the option "Join Now" but just to convert the files. So no output merge any more and all it appears to be doing now is converting the files to the format selected but not joining them.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it did the same thing.
In the other comments I noticed other reviewers mentioning the opt out rather than opt in options during installation. This is done in such a sneaky way that you really have to read the info in this box because simply opting out by unchecking the boxes is only half of it. The box gives the impression that once you have done this you can then click to continue - wrong! Click the cancel option otherwise you are adding the toolbar.Summary
Maybe I have done something wrong - I don't know but it is a shame if this program no longer works (if anybody knows a fix or is aware of this problem please post). Their website help goes nowhere and just leads you back to the download page. Being a free program I cannot complain too loudly though.

4. can convert to avi, mp4, flv, swf, mpeg, rm, wmv, mov, and 3GP (cell phone)Cons
1. Have to be careful what you agree to during set up as it may install some toolbar or application you don't want
2. Even after being careful and using custom install, I found it installed something about quicktax free...don't know what it is not hard to delete
3. Unless you don't mind, I am pretty sure you have to manually check for updates

Well, some people get this to be able to edit, add effects, etc to their videos. Well, this program DOES NOT DO THAT. It does what it says it does: join and convert. Some people say the joined video does not run smoothly, but for me it did. My audio does not sound awesome, but it could just be my clip files. A big plus for me is that it is just a simple click to add videos, move the video up/down in desired order, select a format, and then convert. Overall, I say get it (or at least just try it) if all you want to do is join clips.

It does exactly what it says. It joins separate videos into one video and it is easy to use. Even I can do it.

NONE. (They insist on ten characters so I am writing this statement saying that they need ten characters in this box.)

i guess pro was that i caught all the add on stuff they tried to put on my computer when i was doing the download, have to love custom, no telling what i might have ended up with on my tool bar

i thought his was a video EDITING program, like..oh i can cut here and there , add an effect, all it does is put clips together and you get to choose in what format. im STILL waiting for it to finish "merging" my clips, no telling how it wil turn out since i didnt get to CUT, or EDIT it...so..not impressed, i was hoping to wait til it finished merging my clips, but i keep wanting to close this window!
Summary
i dont recommend, maybe do a recommendation of removing it off cnet, so cnet can keep their reputation as a good source for GOOD programs to use, IF im able to edit my review, and IF this ever finishes..ill come back and state if the merge of my clips are any good
without a doubt, this program is useless, definitely needs an editor in it. all it did was throw videos together and that was IT, nothing smooth about it, nothing nice at all, im going to uninstall it..very disappointed
