Free 3GP Video Converter's mission is to convert videos taken on your phone into files you can play on your PC and maybe even your TV, if you have a home media network. Once you've set the app's presets, it's mostly a matter of adding files, either by browsing or dragging and dropping, and clicking Convert. We could change the output name and add and edit Tags, too.

Pros

GPU acceleration check: Free 3GP Video Converter's setup wizard checked our graphics card's ability to handle video acceleration (it could) and whether its drivers were up-to-date (they weren't!).

Presets: While the app's options are thin, each Format has numerous presets like bit rate, sample rate, and video codec. To change presets, just choose the Format and click the Preset Wizard's magic wand icon.

Unusual formats: Free 3GP Video Converter not only handles common video formats like AVI, MP4, and WMV but also some less common ones, including WKV, WebM, and M2TS.

Cons

Big cache: Free 3GP Video Converter requires at least 171.3MB of free disk space -- not a lot by today's standards, unless you boot from a small and tight SSD. You can easily move the cache folder to another disk if space is an issue.

Bottom Line

Bigger and fancier video converters are available, if that's what you need. But Free 3GP Video Converter can do some jobs in less time than it takes many big tools to load.

Too much bundled stuff to even install.

I guess it is free and the reviews say it works.
Cons
I opted out of the sneaky changes to my browser defaults, but the second bundled bit offered no opt-out. I'd rather pay $5 than get free with extra junk added.

Just installed. 01/08/2014. converted 3gpp (video) to mp3 (audio). Listened for a few seconds. Sounds good so far. Used "direct download link" on CNET page rather than using the CNET's large green "Download Now" button. Chose "custom" at each prompt during installation. Unchecked everything. Running full virus scan now just to see. Will update. Updated on Jan 16, 2014After installation, ran Malware Malbyes. Found adware. Removed. Looks like adware was included in .exe file. No way to avoid it.

Installed the Conduit malware on my laptop. Kept getting container.dll errors. Malware/spyware programs do not find this problem. Had to download Microsoft Autoruns to help get rid of Conduit and all its start-up programs.

I'm not sure if the spyware concerns I've read here are an issue, but I can't imagine that anyone really cares what I'm doing. If they do, they must have a REALLY boring life.
Summary
After two bad experiences with half-baked crapware, I was actually shocked to find that this actually was able to convert an MTS file to an AVI without locking up and crashing my computer or producing an extremely poor quality output file like the other two programs did. It's stable, extremely easy to use, and the quality of the AVI output file was identical to that of the MTS input fie. Updated on Jan 1, 2013It actually works!

WELL I DID READ A FEW REVIEWS AND ONE SAID BEWARE OF MALWARE. BUT I TOOK A CHANCE AND DOWNLOADED ANYWAY...DUH LOL. LUCKLY I SCAN THE SET-UP FILES BEFORE I DO AN INSTALL AND LOW AND BEHOLD MY VIRUS SCAN PICKED UP 'MULTIPLE THREATS'. NOT COOL AT ALL.
