    "Simple enough for a novice"

    July 8, 2010  |   By CyberJarHead

    Version: Fraps 3.2.3

    Pros

Straightforward and easy to use. The framerate is displayed clearly but unobtrusively in the upper left hand corner.

    Cons

Is not signed properly so Windows always pops a warning if you want to run this unpublished software.

    "Just need the Compressor"

    April 11, 2010  |   By TheRetroZombie

    Version: Fraps 3.2.2

    Pros

    Good video compressor

    Cons

    Have to buy

    Summary

I have Hypercam 3 and this contains a good video compressor. I don't really need to use it I can just download it and change the Hypercam"s video compressor to Frap's. I will be using Hypercam 3 with just as good quality as Fraps.

"New Fraps: now you can Fraps the past"

    April 5, 2010  |   By Krontor

    Version: Fraps 3.2.2

    Pros

You no longer have to fill your hard drive with videos of all your gameplay in order to save those great moments.

    Cons

You can't use the Pause/Break key as your hot key if you want to use the cache mode--I always used to use it because it's at the top right corner and easy to hit quickly when gaming.

    Summary

I don't know how many times I've said "That was cool--wish I had Fraps running."

Fraps has solved the problem by creating a 30-second cache mode--something cool happens, hit your Fraps hot key and you're recording the PREVIOUS 30 seconds.

To start the cache mode simply hold the hot key down until the framerate counter turns pink, then you just hit the hot key as you normally do when you want to save the previous 30 seconds.

You no longer have to fill your hard drive with videos of all your gameplay in order to save those great moments.

(nope, I have no affiliation with Fraps--I just like it and paid for it years ago, and still get all the updates for free--well worth the $37)

    "It works perfectly, but..."

    April 3, 2010  |   By ru2213y

    Version: Fraps 3.2.2

    Pros

It can record the video from games as well as the direct audio without significantly slowing down your system. It also can even record preview screens on Adobe CS3 programs and the GOM player.

    Cons

I had one of the previous versions and it will not let me update or anything. Though my previous version still works perfectly, it would of been nice to update from my previous version.

    Summary

Its perfect for the Machima wanna-be! Although to use it efficiently, the full version will be required because the free version only allots for 30 seconds of record time. As great as it works I had problems updating as I stated previously and another problem is that the video files are so large that it splits it up usually into multiple 1 GB+ files. Other than these minor discrepancies, the program is otherwise flawless and can record the audio and video from almost any PC game and many other non-gameing applications. I highly recommend this program over all other screen-recording software.

    "pretty good"

    January 12, 2010  |   By SparkyFlary

    Version: Fraps 3.0.3

    Pros

it records when playing games but it also records your whole screen when ticking the windows option. incredibly useful because not many screen recorders record the audio going on on the computer.

    Cons

the video size can be huge over small time recordings. adjust the compression and stuff to fix that.

    Summary

haven't used too many screen recorders but this one is pretty good imo. not many computers come with stereo mix nowadays so this is great if you want to record audio and video gong on on computer.
