I couldn't download Adobe since reformatting my computer for some reason. I tried all the fixes I could hunt out online. Luckily I found Foxit. Downloaded in seconds and when you open pdf files it is SO fast. This program is far superior to Adobe. I'm very pleased download.com had Foxit!

the application is blazing fast. scanned documents that used to take forever to scroll in adobe pro are just as cool as any other pdf document in foxitreader.

This software is incredibly light and fast. It does more or less what Adobe Reader does, only with much less computer resources (memory) and starting up within a second. It can save text entered in forms (which is not always possible with AR). Even the criticism in the Editor's Review is unfair: the "incredibly irritating" unclickable URL hyperlinks can be made clickable with a simple setting in the Preferences (under General).
I do prefer Adobe's "official" icon for PDF files, so I decided to continue using that (it is \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroPDF.dll,0); this required some work.
Cons
Foxit doesn't integrate well with the PDF Download extension for Firefox. That is skipped completely. This is not too bad, as Foxit doesn't try to open itself as if it were a webpage. But the Save button in Foxit then saves the file in the Temp folder (where it is temporarily put when viewed straight from a hyperlink), so you need to look for the "Save as" command.
There is a small advertisement on the menu bar, about as large as the one in AR.
There is a Bookmarks pane, but no Pages pane (like the one in AR). Also, when dragging the scroll-thing in the scrollbar, you don't see how far you have dragged (no page number or anything), which in a large document can be inconvenient. So navigation around the document is slightly less well organized.
Some further small things (e.g. two documents open means two instances of Foxit running), but they are working on it and there are some workarounds on their forum.
