"Useful and fast, but rudimentary."
Version: Foxit PDF Reader 1.2 build 0201
Pros
Foxit is wonderfully small and lightweight. On my system it occupies less than 5% of the disk space required by Adobe Reader, and opens much faster. The basic tools are there, allowing the user to navigate a document fairly easily, enlarge it, print it, select text, etc. Upon opening the reader the first time, one click associates it with PDF files as the default program for reading them. It integrates with IE for viewing online PDFs in a browser window.
Cons
There is no installation program, which is not a huge deal, but may keep some novices from using it. It doesn't support Acrobat fill-in forms or image extraction, the way the Adobe reader does. Rendering of some graphics (but certainly not all of them) is a little rough.
Don't be put off by my luke-warm review and rating, though. Considering the speed and small size of Foxit, compared to the huge bloat of Adobe, the trade-offs are generally well worth it.

"Much faster to load than Adobe."
Version: Foxit PDF Reader 1.2 build 0201
Pros
If you find Adobe an excellent program but slow to load and all you really want to do is just read PDF documents then this is what you need. I found the same document (a Nokia user manual) took 4 seconds to load with Foxit, 20 seconds with Adobe 7.01 (with fine tuned options and set as the default reader). The actual document displays virtually the same as when using Adobe. Some parts like the bookmark sidebar are less finely detailed but that hardly matters when you consider how quickly it loads once you make it your default PDF Reader. You can continue to use Adobe for certain documents if you wish by clicking on "open with" in your right click menu.
Cons
The toolbar is slightly less polished than the Adobe version. There is a small advertising logo in the same space as on Adobe but it's poorly rendered and while there is an option to remove this, the next time you open a document it's back. Just a minor niggle though.

"fits my needs"
Version: Foxit PDF Reader 1.2 build 0201
Pros
Very small download size and no memory resident program on daily boot-up, nor is it a memory hog. You'll be asked if you want it as the default reader. Click "yes" and it will load **quickly** everytime you click on a pdf file, an URL, or an email http with a pdf embedded. Say "goodbye" to the memory hog. :)
Cons
it isn't "beautiful", but it works fine.

"great alternative to Adobe Reader"
Version: Foxit PDF Reader 1.2 build 0201
Pros
Adobe Reader stopped printing on my PC, even though printing from everything else works. FoxIt works great. It also launches instantly.
Cons
Some bold border lines in one of my documents appear broken, even though Adobe Reader doesn't display them that way.

"Small size,no install required, does the job nicely"
Version: Foxit PDF Reader 1.2 build 0201
Pros
On my XP SP2 PC Adobe Reader installs about 38MB in various locations-Foxit PDF Reader doesn't require installation and is only about 2MB in size.It allows viewing, printing etc of PDF files and if selected as the default PDF reader, integrates into your browser so you can view pdf's online. This little app is a much better option than the bloated Adobe Reader.
