"Excellent customer support"
Version: FotoAlbum 6.1.5.3
Pros
Very good for cataloguing photos. Ratings, comments etc are stored in the exif data, so future proof.
The customer support is really 5 star, best I've experienced. They respond very fast, and don't give up until between you've found the solution.Cons
It takes some time to learn the software because it does so much. Worth perseveringly.

"The BEST I've found, on 3/30/10, 6.1.5 latest version"
Version: FotoAlbum 6.1.4
Pros
Very intuitive to use. There are 6 different ways that each photograph can be categorized.
Cons
In the manual Album section, the free version limits you to only 15 Albums, but it appears to allow unlimited sub albums
Summary
The only individuals that do not need this program is anyone who does not store digital photographs on the computer.
I have over 23,000 photographs and this program is a lifesaver when it comes to keeping track of all of them.
If anyone finds a better program to categorize your photographs please let me know. -

"The Best out there"
Version: FotoAlbum 4.6.1
Pros
First, this album manager is very fast. I have 50,000 photos in my collection with numerous albums, captions, and keywords and the program displays every within seconds. Second, this sofware has a ton of features. I can easily/quickly caption my pictures, do editing (their red-eye works great), zoom-in/zoom-out, add transitions to the slideshow, and create photo cds. Their EXIF/IPTC features are the best I have found. Any captions you have in the EXIF/IPTC are automatically imported and you can easily configure which data you have entered into FotoAlbum are added to your EXIF/IPTC headers.
Cons
The help is on the lite side.

"Some nice capabilities, but also some serious problems"
Version: FotoAlbum 4.6.1
Pros
Good ability to sort pictures. Double-click a picture to start a real-time slide show. Excellent set of picture EXIF information. Can create a screen saver. Supports many picture file formats. It was able to read many of my pictures that other programs rejected as having a bad internal format.
Cons
The concept of albums and multiple nested groups seems overly complicated. No pan and zoom ability. No ability to skip to first, last, or specific picture in any slide show. No foreground or background audio files (background audio file in packaged slide show, but trying it crashed the program). Weak picture captioning. Inability to update picture EXIF information (docs said it could be done). No transition effects. No way to change picture wallpaper. Weak flexibility when printing pictures. The Foto CD I created seemed to have the correct files on it, but when played just brought up a blank program screen - I couldn't get it to play. The Create Slide Show option crashed the program when I selected the option to view the slide show. When I let it send a log file back to the authors, the program hung. A second attempt (without the audio file) worked, but the resultant slide show only occupied 60% of the black screen.
