    "Best Font Handler Yet!"

    February 27, 2006  |   By VersionTrackerUserOpinion

    Version: FontAgent Pro 3.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have tried the demo, which is fully functional, and it is great.

Loads fonts easily... and the "Font Player" is a tool any designer will use over and over!

These guys are also real nice to work with too... I'm buying it for all my clients!

    Version: FontAgent Pro 3.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I think this application is one of the bests in its category. In the past I've tried to manage my fonts with FontBook, Suitcase, FontExplorer X... and I think FontAgent Pro is the best choice for the common user: it "simply" does what it promises, withouth a hitch. And that's great. Also, works very well in Classic (I'm still usign QuarkXPress 4.11), and is completely localized in Italian.

First, thanks for the free upgrade for 3.0.x users. The new features are welcome and I'm most happy that when I click on the app in the dock, 2 bounces and the FAP window pops open right away (where there used to be a lag due to my large library). Before, I'd rated this as 4 stars, but I gotta give in and bump it up to 5 stars now. I tried LinoType FontXplorer yesterday, and sure it's free, but it was not as polished as FAP.

    ...great type manager
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Up until a I bought FontAgent Pro I was living out of a Suitcase. Literally. I hated it. Corrupt fonts use to crash Suitcase. Like an angry wife Suitcase never told me why it was mad at me or which font caused it to be miffed. I had to guess, usually by having it crash a few more times.

It never did anything about the fonts that upset its sensitity. It was up to me.

That was then. This is now. Like a man allowed to ear fried foods and watch sports all day at Hooters I am loving life again. Few things in this life live up to the expectations that Apple Design sets with its products. FontAgent is that rare piece of software that looks looks like it was made for the Apple by people who understand Apple. It is beautiful. When you import fonts it takes the offending corrupt fonts and puts them in their own folder for you to do with as you wish.

It works without crashing the system. It shows you the fonts in a way that you want to see them in a big open window where you can type the text you wish to see. It loads the typefaces when you need them without need to relaunch the program you are in. It even loads typefaces in seamlessly when I need them.

The people there are amazingly nice and real. They have not outsourced humanity and care like other corporations. I wish them many years of success and improvement.

The only thing that troubles me is that some big company may buy them. Oh well, until them ENJOY PEOPLE! and stop living out of a suitcase.

    "Great font management program!"

    December 6, 2005  |   By di2--2008

    Summary

If you're looking for an easy to use, almost invisible font management program for publishing or design, this is it. We've had difficulty with Suitcase and Master Juggler once we switched to OSX, but Font Agent Pro has made it so much simpler and less frustrating. We can concentrate on creativity and productivity instead of trying to figure out what's wrong with our font library. Get it.

    "Font management for 10.4.x"

    December 5, 2005  |   By DianaCo

    Version: FontAgent Pro 3.0.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
When our graphic design firm wanted to switch its 20 plus artists from OS 10.3 to 10.4, we had been using Suitcase 11.x and thought we could get away with it. The result was an increase in down time rather than in production time, not to mention a total lack of security. After trying FontAgent Pro we were pleased that our artists were back to work and spending less time being frustrated with constant crashes which affected most of their programs. With FontAgent we have had very few problems and those could usually be traced to the font's fitness or age or other program prefs. We just ordered several more licenses for those employees moving from OS 10.3 to 10.4 and look forward to the FontAgent Server version, which is now being tested and will allow us both more access and control.

"Works, but not well. I don't recommend it."

    December 1, 2005  |   By smithwood

    Version: FontAgent Pro 3.0.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
After six or so months on FAP and installing it about five times (after a clean install because my fonts were a mess), i have to say it's time for a review.

this software interface is very nice. it's easy to set up (i got used to doing it several times)

however, it DOES manage system fonts even though you don't want it to (don't believe me? load helvetica neue and then watch dashboard widgets go awry). if you try to tell it to manage fonts, it won't do it. i clicked and clicked... nothing.

support is negligible for a program that is OUT OF CONTROL PRICEY. i did get answers, but they mostly circled around 'dump prefs, reinstall, etc etc'

it also decided to create it's own font library although i asked it not to.

it also is INCREDIBLY SLOW at launching fonts. so much so that i have to open and close documents to let the fonts catch up with the documents (i get warnings on files all day long, then BOOM the fonts are there when i relaunch)

i'm convinced this software is not any good. sorry.

    "So Long Suitcase..."

    November 10, 2005  |   By JMoenssen

    Version: FontAgent Pro 3.0.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I was a loyal user of Suitcase for years, but after the program's migration to OS X things started to go downhill. Suitcase would cause system haults, and wouldn't display fonts correctly in its viewer. I thought all those problems would be resolved with the realease of Suitcase X11, but boy was I wrong...
In steps FontAgent Pro, the savior of my font management nightmares. I downloaded the trial and put it through every test I could think of, seeing if it could do the things for me that Suitcase couldn't. It did.
I think this is a great program, and recommend it highly over any other font management program on the market today.
